Jelly People Poll: Do guys get jealous of good looking men?

Question

Don't know if its to the extent that women get jealous of pretty girls but I don't notice that much in real life unless its in an environment like a party or a bar.

I just want you to remember, NOT every good looking guy is an a**hole, just like NOT every pretty girl is a stuck up bitch.

I keep hearing that, if a good looking guy approaches a woman, she will be more receptive.

If a not so good looking guy approaches a woman, he's a creeper.

But on the internet, I keep hearing confidence matters more.

I don't know what to believe >_<

To answer your question in a few parts: Good looks will automatically give a guy a better first impression than an average or below average one. Natural selection advantage, lucky guy, your assumption is correct.

Now I don't think it's very reasonable for girls to automatically write a guy off as creepy just because she isn't attracted to him, however I have seen other girls do this. I don't know why, cause it seems kinda blown out of proportion(maybe a superiority complex or ego burn on the girls side?) I really got nothing on that 'logic'.

Girls love confidence. This is true. For sake of diving into the hundreds of different exceptions, variables, and individual personality/taste, let's just say all these guys are trying to talk to girls at a bar. They don't know each other from anywhere and are complete strangers. A good looking and confident guy is probably getting girls easy. His genetics give him a better first impression, and his outgoing, self assured personality doesn't inhibit him from going after whet he wants. He's a step a head of the majority. If he's good looking and a bit shy he might still do OK because his looks give that better first impression to whoever he's approaching, but if he gets flustered or awkward he might lose the girls intetest. If a guy is average and confident he might not make as strong of a first impression, but probably won't get shunned away immediately by every girl he approaches either. If he's able to keep a good convo going, make the girl laugh, etc his attractiveness will boost up a bit, but he has to work to get there/hold a girls interest long enough to get there. Below average looking guys have to pull off what the average guy did plus some to get, and keep a girls attention. It's not impossible, but yes they have it harder. Generally for guys like this it seems like they need to get to know the girl a little bit first so that looks aren't as important before things move along to something more intimate.

These are just my observations, I could be completely wrong, and of course like I said there's a dozen different variables that go into dating/attraction/etc but as a generality I think this is pretty close.

When it comes to trying to hit on someone, both confidence and attraction are key.

When it comes to confidence, there's a fine line between confident and arrogant, and where that line lies is different for each girl you speak to. Some girls will prefer a shyer guys, whereas others are attracted to those who think they are the best thing in the whole place.

But, looks do come into relation with this line, as much as it sucks. People DO make assumptions on people based on looks, and if they don't act as we think they would we sometimes judge them for it. Someone we assume to be shy is more likely to get negative judgement for acting all cocky, whereas it can be refreshing to meet someone good looking who is a bit shy (counters the judgement their all a**holes/bitches that you pointed out).

Obviously attraction is important. But that goes for looks as much as personality. Personally, no matter how hot someone was, if they were cocky and arrogant, it would be a major turn off. Approaching someone always puts the 'approachee' on the defensive, and they need to warm to the other person either through how they act or how they look. It's kinda shallow, but its part of evolution, don't trust strangers etc. I'd say, rather than confidence, a genuine friendliness is more important, regardless of looks. It makes someone seem more trustworthy and kind, and that is more attractive in my books.

They're both fairly important and can balance each other out, but I personally value confidence slightly more. It's true that a woman will likely be more receptive to a guy the better he looks, but once he opens his mouth to her it can change quickly. And if a not so good looking guy approaches a girl and says all the right things it will make up for his looks. Being awkward will hurt you more than not being good looking. I think that's where a lot of guys fail too. It's a bit easier for the good looking guys to develop confidence over time so many of the average to below average looking guys end up being awkward and that's as bad as it gets.

good looking + confident (but not cocky!) = great

average + confident = good

good looking + awkward = okay

average + awkward = bad

Confidence may improve your chances, but only to a certain extent. Looks do matter. I'm not going to waste someone's time if I think he's unattractive. Plenty of girls only go out with guys they're physically attracted to only, hence the stupid creation of the "friend zone." "Why didn't she go out with me? I've been so nice!" She thinks you're ugly (or maybe something else is putting her off, but I find that this is the case), but she's not mean, so she wouldn't tell you that.

I picked A because most of them be complaining about how us girls love to date jerks & how nice guys finish last. I think the main reason why they do it is because of self-enhancement. They tell themselves that white lie just to make themselves feel good instead of rejected.

I mean if the girls is not interested in you then, she is just not interested in you. When she rejects you it doesn't mean that it was because you were nice to her.

I have been told I am a good looking guy by many people (male friends, random girls...never random guys though lol). My sister is a model so I guess I believe it.

What I've noticed is that some guys are pretty passive-aggressive towards me if they know I am superior competition towards some girl we are both near. I think it all comes down to whether I would take what they want. Usually I have my headphones on and ignore everyone so it's not a big deal and I don't get bad vibes from any guys.

But when I'm sociable they get all petty and do whatever they can to cockblock me.

A funny exception is when a woman looks at me and invites me over for a conversation, and I choose not to pursue. The other guys seem to love it because I see them swoop in to save the day.

Personally, I won't lie...I don't get jealous...I develop a slight self pitty. I will feel happy for them but sad for myself. Then I realize we are humans and we all have imperfections. She might have clear skin but she might have crooked teeth. She might have a beautiful face but a saggy body.

so, I mean...why should I dwell on what I can't have or afford?

Do guys get jealous of good looking men? I don't know about that...

I workout 5+ days a week so I feel good about myself in general and don't pay any attention to what other guys look like really. If anything, I'd relate to the hard work put into a guy who has a good amount of muscle since I am into lifting weights myself. Even at a bar most people I see are in "clicks" of friends and they mostly have beer bellies and all that.

As far as looks vs confidence goes...women want both, just like men want a hot, non-crazy girl with a fun personality.

I know that popular guys and hard working guys are more likely to get jealous than unpopular guys or lazy guys. Also selfish guys and possessive guys are more likely to get jealous.
