Why do girls say they like ‘ambitious’ guys?

Why don’t they say they like guys who are wealthy or likely to be wealthy in the future? That’s closer to the truth.

I have a friend who inherited a fortune but who has absolutely no ambition in life. He just parties and has fun all day, every day. He hasn’t got a career, because he doesn’t need one. Girls swarm around him, and he’s never had any trouble with long-term girlfriends either. No girl has ever told him he lacks ambition, even though he’s probably the least ambitious person I’ve ever met. And apart from his wealth and his total lack of ambition, he’s just an ordinary guy: so it’s not like other factors are compensating.

I have another friend. He has huge ambition in life. He works in charity and has set up his own charity. He, with the help of a small group, has saved literally hundreds of lives. Soon it will be thousands. He has ambition, and the track record to back it up. Yet he will never be rich. His ambition isn’t financial. And sure enough girls don’t swarm around him, and girlfriends have even accused him of lacking ambition. In all respects other than wealth, he is as attractive as my other friend.

Wouldn't you rather have an ambitious girl as well? A girl that has set up goals in her life and is doing whatever she can to achieve them? Because really, who wants a couch potato who does literally nothing with his or her life?

Also, ambition =/= wealth. A struggling artist can be very ambitious, but also broke. Anyone can be ambitious if they want to, but just because you have ambition it doesn't guarantee that you'll be filthy rich one day. So you know, wanting an ambitious guy =/= wanting a guy who's (potentially) rich.

So how come a rich man who's never had ambition doesn't suffer in the eyes of women, whereas a man who has non-financial ambition does?

You may genuinely mean 'ambition', but most girls seem to mean financial ambition. So my question was, why aren't girls honest about this?

Because even though he lacks ambition, he has the money to make up for it.

And because if we did say that, guys would call us gold digging whores (which they already kinda do but whatever). I think guys call girls enough names as it is, there's no need to reinforce that shit.

Ambition to me is to take charge in life and claim in career. First guy I don't think I would be attracted to because it see that this guy will be useless withouthis parents money. The second guy I will say he has a warm heart not ambitious.

Is he drives to be successful in it? To me you just told me he loves to volunteer and open his own charity for it. I volunteer a lot exciting the minimum requirement by double and involve in many roles and going for training so I can help in other areas. Does that make me ambitious? No. It is just an interest.

I think they do like ambition. They also like wealth and status. That's less acceptable. Socially they are conditioned to not only SAY ambition, but to focus on that, because our culture to a large extent has always depended on women at their peak desirability marrying men based on that male's POTENTIAL, and then that male sticking with them.

Note that your charity-friend seems to attract women okay ... they just realize the future with him isn't the one they want.

I think girls like both but I agree wealth is more important generally. Yes, life isn't fair. You can't do shit about it though.

"Ambitious" is just a euphemism for potentially wealthy.
