How do you nip a crush in the bud?

I've started to like this guy that has literally told me he does not want to get into anything right now. I'm trying really hard to just cut it out but I sit next to him in three of my classes and it does not help. How do you stop a full-on crush from forming when it has just begun?

Why can't you 2 just be friends. Just because you like him doesn't mean you can't be friends with him.
