Thanks for reading! :)
I consider myself a lover of food and I readily enjoy tasting new dishes from around the world, but the struggle is real with Nigerian food. Really spicy, oily, lot of thick starches. It's a lot on the ole' digestion. When I do go with friends, I stick to 1 & 2.
all these different colored rice but you are scared of green rice

I've always wanted to try egusi soup and ogbono but I haven't had the chance yet! My boyfriend is Nigerian, and when I went to Texas to spend time with him and his family I only got to have the typical jollof, moi moi, chicken and plantain. Egusi is on my list
Indeed lol. Egusi and suya. Next time I go to Houston, I will knock them right out
What's that ball of white stuff in 1&2? Is it mashed potatoes or something? Like it just looks really cool, I don't know.
Oh my god what lmfao I thought you meant pounded yam like you pounded it into soup form lmfao!!!
Not gonna lie about my ignorance about Nigerian food. I've never really given it a thought before. What's it taste like? Like is it sweet, more bland, or does it taste like a potato? Is it chewy? It looks super chewy.
I'm a vegetarian, but those dishes look very nice, are there any vegetarian versions of those dishes?
Jollof rice and stew with no meat is a vegetarian option.
Jollof rice is the shit. You can eat it on it's own and it's vegetarian.
@RhythmBlack Great, thanks for the info, I'll check out the recipes :D
No problem, I'm Nigerian so I know what's what about Nigerian food.-Though meat is standard it's optional, you don't need it in your food.
The stew is really a mix of tomatoes, onions, spices, peppers, and some oil. Meat is optional, it's just typically included.
Same with jollof rice. You make the rice just as normal, then you add in your stew base and mix it altogether. Heaven in your mouth.
According to an email I can easily afford all of these because the Nigerian prince wants to send me 2 million dollars.
There is no Nigerian prince and the recent President is dead.
@RhythmBlack yes and I inherited the throne.
lmao
Yes to all 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾!!! I actually had fried rice today! 😁
