Technically, beans are neither a fruit nor a vegetable. Beans are classified as legumes, a type of plant that produces edible fruits and seeds. Both legumes and starchy vegetables are considered starches in dietary planning, which is especially important when controlling starch intake for diabetes maintenance and other health considerations.

I thought it was a vegetable. Just like ketchup and beer.

First of all, cocoa beans aren't actual beans, they're considered seeds. Many people also consider them nuts, but that's just wrong. There are two ways to define nuts, one botanical and the other culinary.
Botanical: It is a dry fruit containing one or two seeds, where the fruit does not open to release the seed. So, only indehiscent fruit are considered true nuts. eg. Walnuts, pecans, chestnuts.
Culinary: A lot of seeds are called nuts even when they do not conform to the botanical definition. eg. Almonds, cashews.
Cocoa beans fall in neither category. Cocoa beans are harvested from a cocoa pod which is fruit like, so they definitely fall into the category of seeds and not nuts. And seeds definitely aren't vegetables or fruits, they're a completely different things.Chocolate is a processed good. Cocoa bean is a seed. Chocolate typically comprises:
Cocoa butter, the fat in the cocoa beans
Cocoa solids, sometimes called cocoa mass, the non-fat part of the cocoa beans
Sugar
Some vanilla for flavoring, in small amounts
Soy lecithin, a soy-based emulsifier, in small amounts
And eventually:
Milk, actually in the form of dried milk (sometimes with the milk fat removed)
An add-on flavoring such as nuts, almonds, cocoa nibs, raisins, puffed rice or whatever. I'll discount things like chocolate-covered bacon as a novelty item
Just a bit of salt
Non-cocoa vegetable fats, most often palm oil (*)
FDA declared it a vegetable, but they are nuts.Beans aren’t always really a vegetable. No one says eating peanut butter is eating your veggies.
The same reason coffee isn't. Only legumes (a certain kind of bean) are considered vegetables. Coffee beans and cacao beans are not legumes.
Love the meme!Chocolate is actually a bodily fluid. You think that cocoa beans are made into chocolate? That's just leftist propaganda. Chocolate comes from the ovaries.
Because the other ingredients added to it such as sugar and milk are not vegetables :p Great question though, it got me thinking for a while XD
We don't have to listen to the haters, we know the truth!
I would say because it's highly processed & man made.
Well if you eat the cocoa bean or the fruit is a veggie but all that sugar in the process of making chocolate kinda makes it unhealthy unless it's dark chocolate
That's like saying beer is a french fry because it comes from a potato.
Chocolate is some kind of magical consuming product to me. Hmmmmmm delicious! <3
I don't care what the question is because chocolate is the answer
Same reason, why fries aren't considered vegetables: Its just too tasty 😫
Chocolate is so good that they couldn't put it under a category
because it is not just from the cocoa beans.
there are a lot milk inside of it.
;DDDDWhy are you so sexy and hot but considered a thot?
Beans are not vegetables they are beans lol
Because its not only cocoa beans in it
