Several naturally occurring chemicals in chocolate have documented effects on the human brain and mood, but it's not mind altering. And it's only addictive in the sense of being enjoyable.
It can be said that lots of other foods contain chemicals that effect the human brain and mood. And they are good for you. I think small amounts of chocolate are also beneficial to health.
In the long run, chocolate isn't a drug, but it can be psychologically addicting, just like coffee, tea, sugar, carbs, exercise, sex or anything else that you enjoy a lot and that makes you feel good.
I, myself, love chocolate and often have a chocolaty treat like a couple of chocolate chip cookies in the evening after dinner.
I even add a bit of hot coco powder to my morning coffee.
Chocolate malts are a special treat.
It’s not, but we do know that chocolate can trigger endorphins, particularly in women for some reason. Anything that triggers endorphins can become psychologically addictive. This is why people can have food addiction, gambling addiction and other things that primarily affect brain chemistry. In that way, it’s kind of drug adjacent. I don’t think it’s ever even been recommended to go onto the drug schedule, but that’s why the schedule has five tiers. Some things are more druggy than other things. The fundamental concern being likelihood of abuse and dependency.
It seems like i read recently that caffeine was finally added to the schedule. 🤔🤔🤔
Cacao contains weak alkaloids mostly Theobromine and Caffeine. Theobromina has weak cardiovascular effect on humans but can be dangerous for animals. Technically it's very weak stimulance but I wouldn't consider cacoa as a drug.
Experts suggest we eat a couple squares of dark chocolate chocolate everyday because it's good for our health!! 👍

I’m fairly addicted to German chocolate. 🤤👍
Uh yes... unfair you have local supply.
I do believe it's got caffeine in it but it's not bad to have it quite frequently I've got a bad sweet tooth sometimes it's chocolate sometimes I like fruit flavored candy but I've always got some kicking around as long as u can keep it under control health wise
I tend to think it’s the “pleasure” people connect to eating it that’s addictive but I think I say that because there generally isn’t anything in chocolate that’s classified as being addictive regardless of what people claim it’s just a sweet treat.
If you derive pleasure from eating something the very effect of that pleasure or the endorphins released in your body would be addictive as you will grow to associate pleasure with that food whether it be chocolate or cherry pie 🥧
sugar is considered like a drugs so if the chocolate have. a lot of sugar then it's indeed a drug but it's more the sugar that the chocolate contain that make it a drug than anything
you'd think chocolate wouldn't exist because it tastes good and thus all animals and insects would have eaten it out of existence.
no it's not.
Er you know chocolate doesn't occur naturally, right?
@AngryCarl2 it's a pod that is heavily processed. Still natural, no?
It does have mild psychoactive compounds
its like Pringles -- once you pop you can't stop!
Even if it is, it's something I can't live without.
100 💯👍🏻
1. Define "drug" and the question answers itself.
2. If chocolate is a drug, how do you classify sex?
Food products are not drugs and neither is sex
It is said to be an aphrodisiac. I don't know about that, it's just good.
I think so. It's certainly addictive. I always crave for more.
I don't know it has caffeine in it which is addicting
I have always hated it. I really don't see its appeal, as it tastes so bland to me.
@Nikki1989 With all due respect, you're eating the wrong chocolate. If it's not at least 70% cocoa it's not worth bothering.
Chocolate is not a drug, but I like it... a lot.
I’ll believe it’s a drug when they start having chocolate anomalous meetings.. hi I’m sam and I’m a fatassaholic…
I'm gonna live the chocolate or live without chocolate. I like it but it's not my favorite
It has some properties of addictive compounds & stimulants.
No it's not, I love chocolate, but I'm not addicted to it.
By definition it is a drug. This site depresses me. So many stupid people with the power of opinion.
Chocolate is most definitely not a drug. You are the dumbass if you think it is.🤣
"People also ask
Is chocolate considered a stimulant?

Chocolate can be a great go-to snack when you need a quick energy boost, not only because of a small dose of caffeine, but also thanks to theobromine. Theobromine is another type of stimulant, which also has anti-inflammatory qualities and can positively affect your mood by stimulating your nervous system.
