If tomatoes are a fruit, is ketchup a smoothie?

Clever thought. However, according to the dictionary a smoothie is , a thick smooth drink of fresh fruit pureed with milk, yogurt, or ice cream. Whereas ketchup is tomatoes mixed with brown sugar, apple cider vinegar and salt

Depends on the brand. I make my own, at home, with fresh Roma tomatoes from my garden, and all natural, fresh ingredients!

No in jam you add sugar to preserve it.

A sauce is similar but no sugar is needed, and doesn't last as long if homemade. But in shops they add preservatives so it doesn't last as long.

My sauces only last 7 days maximum.
