How do you cut your sandwiches?

I'm a man, and I have jumbo-sized hands. I don't need to cut my sandwiches.

However, if I'm making someone else a sandwich, I cut them diagonally, because most people prefer them that way, or at least, they're used to seeing them cut that way.

Also usually here we make kind of "cute" sandwich -- usually not so loaded and very small and/or triangular. I noticed in the US that aside from square sandwiches, sometimes they put a lot of stuff inside -- like multiple layers of meat, massive slices of cheese -- kind of "macho" sandwich although a bit tricky/messy to eat.

I think Japanese are kind of delicate eaters -- often using chopsticks. There are exceptions like slurping noodles really fast and shoveling rice bowls and soup. But with sandwiches, it's usually delicate and designed to be eaten very neatly -- so small or triangular shapes typically. Same with burgers here. In the US I sometimes notice they put like 4 layers of beef patties with stuff in the between each layer making it really tall and humungous and kind of messy to eat -- I dig that way too -- satisfies a sort of primal urge but kind of messy.

I never cut my sandwich , i don't understand why people cut the sandwich, am a chef and i work with food on daily basis and no ! It's not about the proportion, in this case i just don't see it.

I grew up cutting my sandwichs in triangles in the 80s & 90s when I was kid plus I have learned this through out my elementary school years and middle school year by teachers plus lunch time.

oh yeah, a grilled cheese sammich tastes 13 to 20 times as good if it is cut diagonally... i think it's because mostly of the first bite...

you are getting a little bit of goopy cheese drip, a little bit of pure bread, and a little bit of crust, all in the first bite... maybe a little bit of pickles, too, little bit of spinach if you want. basically your first bite is a little microcosm of the entire sammich... it's like a grill cheese fractal...

you just can't get that correct ratio from any square cut. The freemasons call it the "golden-brown" ratio, and that's actually what the "G" in freemasonry is all about. most people think it stands for the golden ratio, but it's definitely the "golden-brown" ratio on account of how you grilled that sammich to golden-brown perfection.

Also, the legend has it that the cafeteria at the cult of pythagoras would always cut their grilled cheese sammiches into triangles, and that is what led Pythagoras to develop his famous theorem regarding triangles (the pythagorean theorem).

I will eat them with chopsticks! but only if they are triangular in shape, and it would be quite nice, especially with a little splash of Yuzu juice and wasabi.

Otherwise, if they were cut into squares of crouton size, my only choice would be to eat them directly out of a bowl with my mouth and tongue... lap them up like a dirty dog. that would definitely be my only choice, in that case. how crude it would be.
