While I don't share your thoughts on "sea roaches" the salt to which they live in makes them safer to eat than say crayfish or mud bugs. I personally cannot stand the thought of allowing a crayfish to cross my lips. In fact they live in the mud and their guts have to be purged before you can eat them. Many use cornmeal to get them to clean out their digestive tracts before cooking them. Also I am repulsed by crabs because they feed off the decaying flesh of other animals. Then there are tilapia, in farms in Asia they feed them hog, sheep and poultry manure. Food for thought for sure.
Crayfish are delicious, and steamed crabs are one of the best forms of seafood ever. I won't eat tilapia because they have a weak flavor. I want fish to taste like fish.
Damn, I wanted to see Static's jokes. Ok, don't eat the shrimp or the lobster, save them all for me. Besides, people eat bugs in many cultures for the protein they provide. In the Siege of Stalingrad they ate leather shoes and the bark off of trees they were so hungry. If you were starving you would eat every bug in sight and the dirt they walked on.
I don't think people care that much about it being a sea bug. The texture of a shrimp with cocktail sauce is delightful and unique.
With eating a cockroach i think the more pressing issue is going to be the shell and wings getting between the teeth. Vary little to do with there eating habits.
Even with more staples of meat favorites like beef, pork and poultry it dosen't matter what they eat. Which is almost all corn. and you know what your shit looks like after eating corn. I value a wild shrimp more then a farm animal.
But I agree. Shrimp have this vein of... stuff in them. Can't tell if it's poop or cooked blood. Looks more like poop. Shrimp itself doesn't taste great, or like anything really. You compare shrimp that you buy at the store and shrimp at a sushi restraunt and they both taste different, meaning shrimp doesn't have an innate flavor. Just douse it in cocktail sauce so maybe you can have some sensation on your tastebuds, make it worth that gritty poop vein.

i only eat shrimp on my birthday and Christmas because it's so expensive here, but it's really good in my opinion \o/ if you don't like shrimp, then keep the comments about people who do like it to yourself. calling people gross and vile over their personal food preference is very immature and doesn't make you look like a good person.

I also don't understand how a shrimps classification relates to taste. If it taste good, you like it. It's all dependent upon how one enjoys the food. However, shrimp is a very common food and finding it gross is probably more on the side of uncommon.
ok fine guys, eat all the seabugs that you want. Just wanted to clarify this too, the diet of a seabug is just like the diet of a bug on land, they are bottom feeders. they eat poop and other weird things on the sea floors.

No, I disagree it's a matter of preference I enjoy shrimp, raw or fried or boiled. I think that beets are the grossest thing on earth, & egg plant is a close second so does that mean everybody who eats beets & eggplant are gross, of course not.
Shrimp are like the chicken nuggets of the sea & with a few grill marks, a little butter & dipping sauce those flocking things are great! I like shrimp on the barbie & sometimes fried & never raw.

Someones culture has a lot of influence on what they like as far as food goes. Yes you can dislike foods that are a part of your culture. What people of one culture might find gross people of another culture might consider to be a delicacy. I do like eating shrimp.

Shrimp is pretty big in my culture :) Especially since my dad is from Sinaloa, they’re delicious my fav is wrapped in bacon and stuffed with cheese 💦 I had some very delicious ones out in rosarito in December when visiting my dad.
I’m 23 minutes away from the Atlantic & if I floor it I can be there even quicker. I was at the beach today brother & a beautiful day it was until the police threw me off. In the fine print due to COVID-19 I guess you aren’t allowed chairs & coolers, the beaches are for recreation only as in walking & running only.
@Static_In_The_Attic That sucks. Our beaches back home are closed until the end of May. You will get fined if you are on them. Everyone is miserable because it's a beach town and can't go swim or anything.

There are worse things to eat and drink. A lot of cows are sick and their mucus winds up in dairy products, but hey, most people on this website probably love ice cream, cheese, sour cream, etc.
I wouldn't say the people are gross, just the menu. So many sick things are eaten in this world... just check out places that had great famine in living memory, like Cambodia and China.

Indeed, shrimps, crabs and lobsters look repulsive, those multiple insect eyes and tentacles, totally disgusting, I would never eat something that has more than four legs.
I don't really have a religious or philosophical bias against shrimp. But they're not my favorite food. I don't like them that much.

Lobsters and crabs shrimp, rolypolys, barnacles, etc are crustaceans and not bugs, but they are related to them in the sense of exoskeletons although they're more closely related to octopus
crustaceans are a sub division of arthropods, , they are a sub division, but they are still arthropods and apart of the same branch as land bugs. they are more related to bugs than octopus, as octopus are apart of the mollusk phylum which branched off from arthropods 700 million years ago, while crustaceans slightly branched off 500 million years ago. They didn't even evolve in the same time or in the same area. how are they more closely related? is it because they both swim? lol. enjoy your sea bugs bro
