Is being picky when it comes to food a turn-off for you guys?

OK I hate being labeled as a picky eater but I think that's what most people think I am. I have around 15 food allergies and I'm not exaggerating. It's always been like this so I don't really see it as a problem, I even think I'm "lucky" because I'm not allergic to milk or eggs for example. However I really can't eat avocado, peanuts, walnuts, etc. I love Mexican and Thai food for instance, but it's a little stressful for me to go to a restaurant (especially abroad with the language barrier) and ask to have the said ingredients removed (and sometimes it's not even possible). As a result, I feel guilty for the few types of food I don't like (bananas and organ meats). I'll also think I'll never be able to eat insects 😅 but yeah apart from this, if my boyfriend made me burnt or bland food, I would eat it without any problem haha.
I'm a very good cook so I guess that can compensate a little for not being able to try out a lot of 'exotic' restaurants but I wouldn't be surprised if some of you were turned off by my allergies. I've turned down guys I liked in the past because I was afraid of being a burden/frustrating for them, especially at the beginning of a relationship.

It can be a little frustrating, but if they're nice about it, it doesn't bother me. I'm not a picky eater by any means, the few foods I hate are probably things most people don't like anyways (weird seafood, papaya, certain random foods that aren't common enough to be an issue). I do avoid dairy out of preference (doesn't make me sick but does make me break out, ugh) which I feel is my annoying food quality, but I don't make a big deal out of it, just order my food without cheese or remove some of it if I can (I scrape the cheese off pizza and that way I don't have to make people find a special meal for me or change the eating place or anything). My best friend has extensive food allergies, but it's not bothersome to me to go to a restaurant that has something she can eat.

I guess my only frustration would be maybe trying to cook for the person, but if they told me outright what they didn't like and it wasn't a super unreasonable list, I'd have no problem cooking to their preferences. You don't seem like a picky eater, just someone who has to be conscious of what they put in their body, and that is absolutely fair. Don't be worried about being a burden to people, you're not, just word things positively. "I don't know if there's anything I can eat there, but I do know of this one restaurant that has really good food."

There were some things I didn't like because of the way they sounded. I just didn't like the name of it. Imagine that? I got away with that s**t for a year and a half. "Don't sound right to me, Ma. Say that again? Uuuuuugh! I don't like that." To this day, there are some things I can't eat because I don't like the way they sound. I still cannot eat... yogurt. I can't eat anything with a Y and a G in it. Squash. "You want some squash?" "Shit NO!" Sounds like somebody sat on dinner, you know? "How about some wheat germ?" "Germ?" "Horseradish!" Aaaaagh! "Eggplant." "Well, what is it- an egg or a plant? Tell it to make up its mind and come on back." Something I don't like the sound of: succotash. "What'd you call me, you fuck? Look out, hey!" "Hey, hey. Hey, be cool. Hey, be cool. It's lima beans on corn, man." You know, something else doesn't sound very right? Head cheese. Uuuuh. I can't even look at the sign. "I'll be down near the baloney.

Allergies is a lot different from being picky, its not the same thing in my opinion. You didn't have a choice about your allergies its just what nature stuck you with and you make the best of it

Picky is more like "hey babe let's try this new Thai place I hear its good" and she says no i dont like thai lets just get burger King 😑

Its really frustrating when you want to be adventurous with your food and your partner just straight up doesn't want to even try

Allergies are different though you could die or get sick if you eat a peanut. The girls who refuse to try new food are just boring.

I really hate it.
My ex just ate bread with chocolate sprinkles, greens and potatoes out of cans or glass pots with a halve piece of a hamburger out of the freezer. (He doesn't like meat so he only ate 1/2 and threw away the other halve).
And when we went out he always had fries with mayonnaise.
And he only drank cola.
It annoyed me because I lovee good food. I couldn't cook for us because he didn't like much, when we went out to eat I felt bad ordering good and mostly a lot more expensive food.
But the think that annoyed me the most was that he refused to try things, he didn't want to taste anything.

If it is a medical issue like allergies, any guy worth dating would accept that. But "fussy-ness" in general is a flag to guys as you know. Fair or not, you can get labelled "high maintenance."
I have dated girls who are picky eaters and another thing that comes to mind is it can be a turn-off as in, they are inexperienced or uninterested in trying new things. I do not expect every woman I meet to have traveled to Asia and Europe and other places I have gone. But I would expect them to at least be interested in other cultures.

Not at all , just as long as she doesn’t judge what I am eating , or make comments , if I call a girl a picky eater I am pretty much just joking around with her , so I wouldn’t take it to heart , if I was a real picky eater I would just focus on making my own food and let people know I have food allergies so please don’t get offended if I don’t eat your food , So if she was upfront with me about it then their should be no issues , and if I liked her I would surprise her with making her meals that she can eat

Well I consider it a turn off but not in situation like yours where you can't help being picky since you're allergic to food. Well I really wish that someday you be able to eat whatever you want and what you can.

Coming to people who be picky for no reason I guess they need to understand about the wastage of food. If you don't like something better be upfront in saying about it before preparing. I am sure no one will give you something that you don't want to eat.

Then There are also some people who always complain about food minor things like less salt, no authentic taste, etc...

I usually see the hardwork a chef or a cook has put in preparing it.

Also, we are blessed we get food. There are so many in the world who die because of starving.

And so I say my grace before meals and eat what I get

Sort of, but it's a very forgivable turn-off.

If a girl is fun and cool and helpful and pretty, it's not like a guy will break up with her because she's a picky eater.

Or if she's a nasty bitch, it's not like a guy will stick with her because "hey, at least she eats well, you know?"

Well I wouldn’t call you a picky eater if you’re allergic to a lot of food items. It’s not your fault your body can’t digest these things. If you refused to try new things or eat a lot of foods just because you didn’t like them then perhaps I’d call you picky.
I think a new partner would have to get used to your food restrictions but I wouldn’t call it a turn off

People will think of (picky) because they don't understand. Am a chef and I am gluten intolerant and I do get a lot of comments, even on broad but i know a lot about food so when am out i know what to order. If you travel next time come to Sweden, we are very good when it comes to food allergies, to make sure you get the food you can eat and enjoy with no problems.

If you visit Thailand, I can make you (I have no idea what I should call. 😅 ) cards in Thai to tell restuarants which food/ingredients you can't have.

I'm going to be frustrated if they never try new things, but food allergies are understandable. I wouldn't call you picky at all.
I just watch my sister make her boyfriend home made food all the time and turn it down because he'd rather have something else. I'd just never want someone that does that.

It would be for me. I'm a very adventurous eater. I've eaten dried seasoned crickets before. The only things I don't like are tripe, cottage cheese and raw mushrooms. I love spicy things and I've been eating sushi since I was about 2 and it really bothers me when people complain about food. It doesn't bother me when they have allergies though because I don't want them to die.

If it's allergies that are medically proven then it's not their fault. But if it's just being a picky eater then unfortunately for me it's a massive turn off. I don't want to sound hypocritical as there are certain foods that I don't eat.

I make allowances for unusual foods like seafood. But if your diet is quite limited or you complain about food a lot, then you are driving an unnecessary wedge into the relationship or potential relationship.

If it's allergies then no i wouldn't care to much, hell I'd probably do all kinds of things that would make u go "awww tnx for being thoughtful" so it really depends on the guy, to me it's more of a challenge then a hurdle to get over. It may sound stupid.

Though actually being a picky eater as in refusing to eat food that somone served u kinda is a turnoff (don't mean a specific veggy or something, actual huge parts of the meal)

Not wanting to ear organs or insects is not picky lol, that's normal cuz they're gross. And allergies are not your fault, so if a guy doesn't like you asking the waiter to remove something, he doesn't care about your health. You need a guy who if he knows the foreign language and can communicate with the waiter better, would MAKE SURE he writes that down

You sound like me. Although I dont eat Thai since they use a lot of peanut oil when cooking their foods. On top of that my mother hated to cook and our meals were basic and bland and if you couldnt cook it in a 1/2 hour it wasn't on the 2 week rotation of foods. Needless to say I'm not very adventurous in eating new things.

I would get retested because those allergy panels are janky as crap. As for being picky, if you are legit allergic to stuff it is what it is. But it would be wise to choose a cuisine that has more stuff you can eat versus the laundry list of stuff you can’t. You might end up eating bread (if it’s not on the list) and water

As you have food allergies it's not being picky, have you checked out your blood group and compared it to what is supposed to be good/bad for you in terms of what you eat? I forget the name of the western guy who writes about this, but apparently it's a big thing in Japan,,,

Im called a pickey eater by people who live off junk food. Ro some degree its a matter of someones perspective in comparing you to others. I would only consider it picky if was more of a non health related choice to not eat a lot of things that you never have had. Its a little different in your case but even so, i dont see it being a big deal.

What is a turn off for me is inflexible vegetarians, people who lecture me about my diet (low carb), and people who believe in "food combining" rules. Or women who won't eat a meal unless it costs at least $50-50.

There was a gal in college I almost dated who was allergic to half the world, her sister was allergic to the other half, and she was Jewish, so food had to be kosher as well. We joked about it some, but there was always something for her to eat. I never did try cooking for her though.

I would have a problem with it if I wasn't allowed to eat what I want. My diet shouldn't change because your picky unless you cook. If you can accept different meals or can live with my cooking potentially not meeting your standards.

Food allergies it's diffrent, I know girls that eat foods but if nothing much they will try n say they dont anymore, I think they get an idea that it mesns u like them more if you let them be spoilt don't work on me often unless they real good at it lol.

If you let me know up front you had food allergies ( and when you say food allergies actually have them, you know how many people say they're lactose intolerant and they're not.) If you let me know upfront you had allergies i'd have zero problem with you "pickiness".
