I work in our church Food Pantry every Saturday morning.
At two other churches, I've worked several shifts cooking breakfasts and lunches to go for the overnight homeless shelters they run there. Close enough?
I done it many times Paris and still do

I have done this before and I would love to do it again! I have to be honest, when I left there, I did cry and was sad for a few days because I was wondering how were they going to eat again, and what was going to happen to them in the long run. The little children touched my heart. I was serving their meals to them and all the people were seated at round tables, some with their own family. The children would look so sad as they asked me for more drinks. Once I looked in the heir eyes I just wanted to take them all home with me. On a more cheerful note, one of the guys at the table looked up at me and said "So, what are you doing after this?" 😊
I have done that before.
I live in the country so we don't have those, but in the past I dated a girl and her company did a big party for the underprivileged and asked if I wanted to help.
It felt good helping those people to have at least 1 pleasant night.
I'm a kind of girl who likes to cook alone in the kitchen without any interupptions or with anyone else. Working like this I have to work with many people so I couldn't manage and would easily get distracted.
I have done, but it was more of an all year thing, especially over winter period with homeless people.
Some of those that do a lot of this are the Sikhs in the UK, really do a shit load to help.
If I wanted to do that, I would volunteer to do it during the year and not at Christmastime. However, I currently devote a large part of my free time to volunteer activities and my schedule really doesn't have room for anything else right now.
i used to do the St. Vincent de Paul meals on wheels with my father when i was younger. it was ok. i'd like to do a soup kitchen. you never know when you'll need one. i'm gonna look into it locally
We do a food pantry at my church every month. That’s the closest thing we have done to what your question asks. But if we had the space, and facilities to, I would definitely spend part of my holiday feeding the needy.
Its something I'd definitely do, particularly for homeless people
I have. Some years ago, my family of then-wife and 3 teenage kids served Thanksgiving dinner at a local Salvation Army.
I could do that. It would be nice helping people in need.
I wouldn’t mind, especially since I don’t do anything else on holidays.
If I was going to work in a soup kitchen it would be on a day when there would be no photo ops and I would just help out on a random day.
No thanks @Paris13 been there done it. There wasn't much appreciation shown from the patrons.
I did volunteer a few times several years ago. Unfortunately the one near me closed up last year due to lack of donations
It wasn't a holiday, it was the second Saturday of every month.
I have in the past did it for several years after drawing community service time at one. Have been lazy for last couple years
What is a soup kitchen?
No no I really don't know what soup kitchen is. Please tell me. I like to cook when I am alone, may be go to such volunteering, if I find it around here.
Already did numerous times.
We don't have those where I live
No that’s depressing I’d rather collect donations
No - I have other things to do.
Maybe. It depends on my work schedule.
