Burger king had the best grilled taste omg. Next is Checkers/Ralleys Big Buford Burger. Wendys is next but only good if its that Daves Single. Sonics is next with the Cheesburger. Mcdonalds has the nastiest burger but best fries. I only tried Five Guys and Steak N Shake ONCE and hated both. Whataburger smelled funny so i didn't eat it

Five Guys is supreme. If I'm not making the burger myself which most of the time I an, then it comes from Five Guys. I was so excited to get to Cali to try In-N-Out and I was SOOOO disappointed! Everything was disgusting. Even the milkshake.

Re: In-N-Out and "The question is what should I try and what's recommended?": In-N-Out part of their gig is that the menu is really, really simple. It's not like McDonald's or other places where you have to choose between fish or chicken or beef, and do you get nugget form, finger form, patties, etc. They don't even have a bacon option.

It's just how many patties do you want, and do you want cheese on those patties? Next, do you want fries or not? Last selection, pop, water, or milkshake (strawberry, vanilla, or chocolate)?

If you want to get really fancy, In-N-Out has a "secret menu" that you can order in code but it doesn't add any special meats or cheeses. I order a kind of special order, which is:

One Double Double (two patties, with cheese), Animal Style (with grilled onions), Protein Style (lettuce wrapped, no bun):

You can also order your fries Animal Style, and they will cover them in grilled onions, cheese, and sauce (pickle/ketchup/mayo) but I don't recommend it. Animal Style burgers are a free upgrade, but Animal Style fries costs double and isn't that amazing, imho.

Lastly, I will say I prefer In-N-Out, but I also don't think they are worth making a special 400 mile+ trip for. I like the Hardee's (out here we call it Carl's Jr.) Famous Star, which I think is better than a Whopper or Big Mac, but really fast food is not the best burgers usually. If you do come out west to CA, swing by Santa Barbara and try "The Habit" for our best local burger joint.

I love burgers & love how restaurants advertise their burgers & they looks so good like the ones in your photos. You order them expecting one thing & this is when you get.

Why are Wendy’s burgers square?

On the flip side I would choose Five Guys Burgers if I had to choose one from your list.

None of the chains, I'd rather get a burger from a local grill house, their burgers tend to be better/fresher, their prices are reasonable, and the money stays in the local economy instead going to the chains.
