When having a pudding where should the custard go?

Tonight I'm having pwdin Eva a classic British pudding. It's basically an apple crumble but with a cake topping and traditionally served with custard.

When it comes to puddings I like to pour on one corner and let it pool around. But where do you prefer yours.

Custard first then pudding placed on top like an island

Pudding first then custard poured all over

Pudding first then partially covered in custard

No custard

I've had things like apple crumble. I've had "Irish pudding" that's a bit similar (but not crumbly) and has a glaze/sauce to go with it. I usually pour the glaze on top.

The words pudding and custard, though, have a different definition in America, similar to the way the English say "biscuits" and Americans say "cookies" to describe the same thing.

It greatly depends on the pudding.

Eve’s pudding should not have custard over the top as you want the virgin sponge.

something like sticky toffee over the top as you get that nice taste with it mixing.

last time I had Eve’s pudding it was with Ice Cream.

Depends on the pudding of course. Like any sane person can tell you if it's a plain cake you just dowse it will all the custard you can. If it's a cake with a layer of toffee or something like that on top custard needs to fill the bottom to not effect that.

The apple crumble you speak of would just be dowse it for me it's not got anything that will be interrupted as it's normal cake just with apple inside but that's often a strong taste anyway that comes through just fine.
