Apparently she's not alone in her dislike of food that tastes of something. So are you a plain eater or do you know someone?

I love flavor, flavor, flavor and even spicy heat. My wife and I love trying any kinds different regional or ethnic foods we can find. She can't handle much heat, but we both love flavor.
We're friends with one particular couple. The husband only eats bland food. He won't touch anything but chicken or steak, boiled veggies and potatoes. Nothing ethnic like Indian, Thai, or any kind of seafood. It's like going out to dinner with a little kid.
His priggish tastes are a source of amusement for my wife, me and even his wife.
I do not like overly spicy food or food that is buried in some kind of weird sauce that is just designed so you cannot taste whatever it is that is under it all. There is an underlying reason for many of this. It is a function of how many taste buds you have on your tongue ( I am not making this up) . If you have a lot of them you are more sensative to strong tasting food and generally do not like it.
I always order hamburgers without ketchup and it pisses me off when they cannot get it right. I send i back and they bring it back 30 seconds later with the ketchup scraped off. I get pissed because I could have scraped that shit off myself. I wanted a new burger. Usually when I order I have to repeat it a coule of times andexplain I just want meat on bun.
I like flavor, but, also plain toast, rice cakes, bread, etc

I can't even imagine something like that around here... lmao
in fact, I was middle 20's till I actually realized that cooked rice is actually white, and kind of bland, plain?
for whatever reason I thought everyone cooked it the same way (Mexican rice) well, I really didn't think of that, I just didn't think more about it... lol
My mother was an average cook who didn't use much seasoning, just salt and pepper, so I grew up eating mostly bland food. I like seasoned food but I can also enjoy bland food... that drives my SO crazy, she overseasons everything. by the way, I like rice cakes... occasionally.
This could be a mental disorder disguised as a personality trait. Avoidant food intake disorder may lead to nutrition deficiencies. You may need to hide some bacon bits in her potato or put a tad of jelly on the underside of her rice cake to save her life.
Ooh, rice crackers! We used to feed them to our kids as snacks. Boring. I think one of them still eats them, but they eat interesting food, too.
I don't know anyone who won't eat anything nice.
No no no. I like my spices and flavors. I have no interest in those Styrofoam coasters they call rice cakes, or any of that bland crappy food.
Not in real life.
My mother eats like that. Hot dogs with nothing on them. Hamburgers with nothing on them. No pickles or onions or lettuce. Bacon sandwiches with nothing but bread and bacon. No spreads. No condiments. I can't eat like that. It's very odd.
I prefer a lot of flavor. I will drown a lot of my food in pepper, vinegar, garlic or such
The only time I ate tasteless food was just after the new year when I was Covid positive 😜💉
Yes, everyone from the UK
I can't live without Indian food and my spices.
Nope. Not sure what that is that can cause that.
Yeah, British people
Hahha no
