Do you eat anything that looks gross but tastes great?

I order this canned smoked salmon from Alaska ($$$) that looks really gross, but tastes great ! Do you eat anything like this?

I used to be a very picky eater, I never ate something I didn’t like the looks of, so I was a skinny child, because I had only few things I chose to eat.

In China, that changed.

I am a curious person, so I have been trying new food.

The least good looking meals I’ve eaten myst have been the seafood, (Octopus, Squid and Shrimps maybe) but I love them and often eat them.

Also, I have eaten frog salad. (Accidentally because I don’t read Chinese, I went to this fancy restaurant and ordered using the picture in the menu, which ended up being a frog.)

That was quite tasty though.

And I have also tried snail. But couldn’t make myself into eating it.

I still don’t eat egg whites since childhood, because I dislike the look of it ever since I was young.

When I spent time in France, Escargot was my go-to meal very often. It just needs to be prepared correctly...

I took a little bite, but then I pictured them sliming around and lost the appetite.

I would like to try again, but once I dislike the appearance of food I am stubborn to like it again.

I don’t know the name, but there are also these little snails and Chinese people eat them like a sunflower seed.

But It didn’t look that gross, until after I found out it was blood. But by that time I had already enjoyed it many times.

I tried canned salmon once out of curiosity because I love tuna fish, but I’m not a fan.. or I don't know.. how did you eat or prepare yours?

It's smoked, so I just eat it directly from the can... the company publishes all sorts of recipes for dishes you can prepare it with which sound pretty good, but I cannot cook, so that is that.

How could someone not like canned salmon smoked or not? Makes an awesome sandwich with mayo lettuce, tomato, onion and hot sauce! MMMMM

it's really good on a cracker, or if you otherwise treat it as a "dip". It's so salty and rich, it's best to pair it with something a bit more bland.

There are a few other things I eat that some people have commented look gross or that they couldn't handle. Raw sea urchin ("uni") and sashimi in general, seaweed, fertilized duck embryo, homemade unfiltered kombucha and kefir, and smelly cheeses or bleu cheese. I'm a pretty adventurous eater, the only thing I've ever turned down was some fried spiders in Kampuchea; I just wasn't feeling them.

i ate a camel spider with garlic butter one time that was really tasty, and i had a super peppery rat on a stick this one time that tasted like hickory smoked beef jerky in A1 sauce. Omnomnom like a MF.

I was never a big fan of steaks but when I was gonna get married, the hall we were gonna rent gave us a "taste test" for the meals we could serve our guests. One of them was prime rib. When they brought it to the table the damn thing was literally bleeding and I think it even moved a couple times. I did not wanna try it but my future wife shoved her fork in my face, so I tried it. DAMN was it good! It really does melt in your mouth! Now I will eat it when we go out to dinner and will occasionally make it at home.
