Maybe this is just another one of those things that are unique to Australia, but where I live if you ever buy a chicken-burger for example, it will always have mayonnaise on it. In God's name why?
There are just some things that don't go together when it comes to food; anchovies on pizza, jam and peanut butter, and mayonnaise on chicken.

Let's be honest here. Mayonnaise has the appearance, texture, consistency and taste of a certain by-product of the sexual act. Maybe that is the reason why so many people like it :D

I’m just not a huge fan of mayo, period. I’ve had it before, it can be done, I guess, but I’d much prefer honey mustard or Dijon mustard with a chicken sandwich. It should also be noted that I don’t really love chicken sandwiches either, haha. But like cold cut deli chicken, I could eat that as a sandwich or a wrap (I just don’t like chicken patties), and that’s where I’d use the mustard of some sort. I guess you’d use mayo for a chicken salad sandwich, but I don’t care for that much either. Mayo is definitely very low on the list of condiments I’d choose. I’d maybe take light mayo over nothing, but that’s about it.

My dad put Mayo on every possible sandwich when I was a kid. Chicken, turkey, burgers, bologna, spam the list goes on and on.

I feel that was detrimental because as I got older my taste buds started to despise the taste. I'd eat it just fine but it became "just hold the mayo" to prevent me from thinking about how it ruined what I ate. I don't mind it too much today with ketchup, and mustard like Wendy's burgers.

I don't like mayo on chicken, but prefer chilli sauce instead. But the purpose of the mayo is so the chicken doesn't feel rubbery and dry in texture. Chilli sauce does the same job as the mayo.
