Cat and eating habits?

My cat is refusing to eat dry food just because he wants me to give him things like chicken and meat but I can’t afford that I can’t even afford the wet food. So should I just ignore him till he starts eating?

My cat recuses to eat dry food too. Have you tried mixing the food with a little bit of water?

At the end of the day he's just being fussy, both foods provide all the nutrition he needs, if you can put up with the meowing for a little while then he will eat the dry food when he gets hungry, especially when he realises complaining does nothing.
Just make sure to give him a little extra love when he comes to play or cuddle :)

Refusing to eat something doesn't necessarily mean they are being fussy it could mean the cat genuinely doesn't like the dry food. Would you eat the exact same food everyday or would you eat food you hated. I'm sure cats gave taste buds that can tell when they like something and when they don't

If a cat really doesn't like something it will literally starve itself rather than eat it. If it comes back to it after a while it's just being fussy.
It's fine if your pet has a preference that you can cater to, but the op has stated that they simply can't afford the cat's preferred food.

Obvious course of action is to get the cat used to the dry food.

yes. However it's very likely the cat find someone who gives cat what cat wants.

By the way if you can't afford some cheap meat sorts (liver, heart, kidneys... cats love those pieces) you have very likely more serious problems than a spoiled cat.

When it gets hungry enough it will eat the food it's given.

I don't like macaroni and cheese, but by (foodless) day 3, I'll not only be eating it, but I'll also be asking for seconds!

what's the age of the cat? how long have you had the cat?

and what was their usual diet, in the last week, the last month... the last year?

His 5 months I’ve had him for three. He gets wet food when I can get it for him but his also eaten kibble and loved it he started this 3 days ago

then it should be fine...

just make sure the dry food is available to them, and they will get to eat it when they are really hungry

what I do with my three cats is that, I do give them just a little bit of wet food from packets or a can, but they get a little and for the rest of the meal, and the rest of the day... they only get dry food

sure, sometimes they will whine and try to trick you into giving them more of the fun wet food, but eventually they get used to the routine and schedule... and they will be eating both just fine

I raise purebred ragdolls and feed them dry food and fresh water every day. They wet food can cause dental problems and makes their poo really stink. They eat it fine when they're hungry.

Stick with the dry food, or switch to wet food, but do not start feeding your cat human food.

Okay, then go fishing, or dig up some worms for him. Maybe farm some grubs for him with kitchen scraps.

Also if you have internet access you should be able to scrape up some cash for cat food. Just do some work on fiver or something.
