Question for people who work at boba tea store's?

Okay, It's not much of a big deal... but I'm just extremely curious.

Currently in Japan, went to go order in a cute small boba store. When I ordered my drink the cashier taking my order laughed at what I wanted... then proceeded to make funny (disappointed maybe) faces while making the drink. I ordered a chocolate milk tea with topiaca pearls. They handed me the drink and turned to their co-worker and they both snickered while shaking their head...

As I said it's not a big deal but I find my self quite self concious ordering this drink in Japan as it happened 3 times already 😂. Is this drink not common there? Anyway please, please explain so I understand after all these months...
