Why is a pizza box square but a pizza is a circle and the slice of pizza is a triangle?

Not all pizzas are square. More are rectangles than squares. And of course, a square box is cheaper to make than a circular box. They would have to charge extra for circular boxes.

The cost of producing square boxes is a fraction of what round boxes would cost.

The pizza is usually round because of the process of spinning the dough.

The slice is more or less triangular because it makes the most sense for easily dividing up a round pizza as equally as possible.

A cube shape is most economic to make a box.

A piece from a 'round' pizza isn't a triangle, but a circle section :)

And: there's no rule saying that a pizza must be circular.

This is a fair question and the responses even wiser. And yet other intelligent life form out there watching us discuss such things. We are the ants, they are our (potential) overlords... could easily wipe us out like a casual foot stomp but why would they waste the energy?

Ugh. Now I want pizza.

Because just like a bag of chips or a cereal box they charge you for the air that is being packaged.
