Sometimes you’ll be surprised to hear what people eat & sometimes we’re surprised to hear what people shouldn’t eat & they do anyway. As for pine cones yes you can eat them however most people just eat the nuts inside. I’ve never tried them.

Yes. Of course the nuts are. The pine cone can be boiled and eaten. It's an excellent source of dietary fiber and Vitamin C.
The pine cone can also be ground up and used as flour.
That's just the female pine cones
The male pine cones are softer are edible without boiling.
by the way, other parts of the pine are also edible or used to make tea. There are also medicinal use for parts of pine trees.

They are NASTY. Yes, I tried when I was about 8 or 9. In addition to being spiky, they are just fibrous. It's like chewing on a book or a stick. Plech! So, answer to the question is yes, edible, but nasty.

You can't eat them raw. You should marinate them overnight. Then saute them with some onions and mushrooms for 15 minutes. Sprinkle some salt, garlic powder, basil, and paprika. Carefully break them apart when they are soft enough. Let simmer for 20 minutes on low heat. Remove from heat and let cool. Once they are cool enough... throw them in the trash can. Lol

yes and no the contain terpenes, which can be harmful to you. won't kill you but make you ill after knawing on one

They make a great meal. I usually have some moss and pine straw for appetizers. Put them on the grill and just wait 30 minutes.
