We were in the bush and got some food for a picnic. No problem when we got out of the car. As soon as the food came there was a swarm of bush flies surrounding us and they were biting bush flies. Totally miserable - we ate in the car with the windows up.
Another time - inside my apartment - my girlfriend had bought some sort of meat that she was pleased about. Forget what you call but its a french style where you cook meat in a plastic bag. When it was opened I found the smell quite offensive. However some small flies were highly attracted. They swarmed in through the open french doors. My apartment is normally above the insect flight ceiling but not with this stinky meat.
So I think iif outside avoid strong road kiill smelling meats.01 Reply- +1 y
Also iif in Australia and you are in a nature park avoid the picnic table. Emus have long necks and quiet feet. They are ideally adapted to sneaking up behind you and swiping your food with a single peck of their beaks. Don't know if the same applies to ostriches. I do know that pelicans are good at swiping fish n chips and are very defiant about it.

+1 yI need to say something here about BurgerKing and McDonald's here.
So we have a mall here and these two stores are face to face in the dining area.
What I noticed is, the tray both these stores use to serve the food, is taken by the cleaning staff after a customer leaves after eating. Shoved about 30% of the tray in the dustbin to slide the trash. And then kept on the dustbin till some trays are collected.
And then, the cleaning staff takes those trays and gives back to the store where they are used without washing or cleaning. The stores serving on those trays again.
I am never going to eat there from now on. I don't know how the heck these fancy people do not even notice that.
And if it is like this everywhere. Then count me out for these foodchains.

One store is not required to wash the other's trays. But it is a store's requirement to wash their own trays when they are returned by the other. And neither is required to return the other's trays either. I think it is just professional courtesy to do it at all.

@Daniela1982 Yes. The trays do not mix at all since they are of different designs for different stores.
I sat there for nearly 30 minutes trying to observe the whole thing. Both the stores did not even try to use the back doors for the collection of trays. The cleaning staff was giving unclean trays back to the stores in front of the customers.

+1 yEh, I don't mind depending on the time of year and location. Right now where I live it's in the 70s-80s. I might, assuming it's an area where I'm not fighting off flies, ants, and mosquitoes around me as I try to eat. For example, our job hosted a grilled burger event Friday and lots of people were eating outside-
My hermit ass ate at my desk where it's quiet, air conditioned, no people, and bug-free, LOL.
But overall, I have no qualms eating outside, just keep the bugs and weather in check and I'm good.

I prefer eating outside. Lots of bacteria is killed by sunlight. I imagine a counter that has had a 1000 different bacteria cultivating on it over time cleaning doesn’t care h it all— is gonna be dirtier than a tree y see the sun… plus I dig fresh air with my food 😊

+1 yI avoid it. Bugs are definitely a problem. I’ve never worried about birds when i’m eating outside despite having been pooped on twice in lifetime. Ell oh ell! I wasn’t eating either time. I’ve seen a video floating about recently of a seagull snatching a pizza right off an outdoor table while a woman was sitting there eating. Haha!
10 Reply I’ve never been one for eating outside, but if I was invited to a family barbecue, I would go. And, as a child I can remember having some nice picnics during the summers. But like you mentioned bugs and wasps we’re never far away, so they were annoying at times. But overall, I’d sooner eat indoors.

+1 yI will eat outside if the weather is nice for sure, but otherwise I eat inside. Mosquitoes can't chew on me and I won't be freezing my ass off if it is cold. Couldn't get me outside to eat on cold days unless it is for college football games and tailgating
10 Reply522 opinions shared on Food & Beverage topic. Humans are more dirtier then nature lol think about it, I bet bird poop is more cleaner then when you touch or shake another Humans hand. Just like a dog's mouth can be the cleanest thing lol I could touch dirt outside and eat versus touching things inside I should probably wash my hands because of the germs we carry haha

+1 yBella I voted that it depends on things. And that is mostly the weather. If it's too hot or too cold I wouldn't want to eat outside. But in general I do prefer to eat inside.

+1 yI technically eat outside when I go to baseball and football games, and when I go on my cousin's boat. So I guess it's fine with me. Unless it's literally somewhere out in the woods. Then that'd be a "Hell no." for me.

+1 yEating al fresco ain’t bad at all! I’ve never had bird dung in my food (but bird dung can be kosher/halāl), and I can just blow the insects away. There are insects and spiders inside my flat as well.

+1 ytrue i don’t like the risk of bugs but on the other hand indoor air quality is horrible compared to outside. it’s nice to get fresh air. so i guess it just depends if u can keep bugs away, i like eating out in the patio of some restaurants.
