So, we all hated to eat certain things growing up. Did your tastes/likes/dislikes change at all as you aged?
- 3.2K opinions shared on Food & Beverage topic.
m +1 ydefinitely yes... as in, I've become a lot less fussy over time, lmao
now, I try some more variety, a bit of everything... most notably, cheese and some of the hot spicier food, and it is not exactly that I disliked a lot of food or certain things, for me it was more like sticking to what I prefer and like the best
nowadays I have a more varied and balanced diet because well, I've grown up, lol
avocados are a still BIG NOPE, those are still awful14 Reply- +1 y
I have a well balanced diet of cupcake. I eat cupcake weekly.
- +1 y
that sounds more like dessert and sweet treats... lol

Sticky sweet...

+1 yMy taste buds have definitely evolved :-). What's really strange is that when I was pregnant with each of our children, I could not stand the smell or taste of a nice steak or generally any cut of meat. I enjoy more Mexican food than I did when I was a child and teenager. We definitely acquire new tastes as we have new dining experiences in our lives.

+1 yOh definitely. There were some things I wouldn't try just off of general principle alone. In the past couple of years I've tried pumpkin pie and really like it and also carrot cake and enjoy it too. Also I tried asparagus for the first time this year and I enjoy it as well.
14 Reply- +1 y
Mmm, I love carrot cake and something that I didn't try until a few years back. Didn't sound appealing but very good. Thanks for the opinion!
- +1 y
Carrot cake is awesome. I have an excellent bakery nearby (no chain), that makes very tasty cakes.
- +1 y
Yeah the name of carrot cake threw me off. It's like, you're making a cake out of carrots? Don't do that please. Little did I know how good it was.

I hated anything to do with durian when I was younger. Now I can tolerate it, and even enjoy it sometimes.
I was also a huge chilli hater. Now, my chilli tolerance still is not that great, but I love some spicy food, eg. stir-fried mala noodles, Curry, Thosai, and many more. I also fell in love with hot n' spicy potato chips!
I was a picky eater, which meant I did not like most fruit except papaya. Now, Im ok with most fruit, except the sour ones, such as starfruit.14 Reply- +1 y
I was much the same. I was never picky but definitely got more adventurous the older I got.
- +1 y
I LOVE spicy, but that is because our cuisine here uses a ton of it.
Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yA lot of stuff j wouldn't have eaten growing up I now love. Eggs for instance, I didn't eat eggs until I was 25. Now I can't get enough scrambled, fried, poched, boiled, French toast, eggy in the basket, omelette.
Fresh fish too, lamb steak.
I no longer ear processed meats, fast food, drink soda pop, or anything too sugary.
The amount of sugar I used to ingest to be Frank it was amazing I didn't end up a diabetic. I was certainly overweight growing up. Suhmgar is highly addictive, I had to wein myself off it very slowly and I still get cravings for coca cola even though I haven't touched it in 10 years.

+1 yMe now vs me 20 years ago? I eat almost everything that is food as long it's gluten free (do not want to shit LAVA from my ass just because some don't believe the allergy exist) While the young me didn't eat anything new because i didn't what it was. And! Pancakes are so overrated😁, i know many, i am weird. So if someone is cooking something that is gluten free and tells me to taste it! I am tasting it and probably eat just like the other person do 🤷āāļø.

+1 yI got bored of stuff. And I think the pandemic also made me feel more bored of some foods than others.
Probably I also sometimes surprise myself by now preferring to not have traditional breakfasts and prefer either skipping or choosing snacks that aren't cereal or breads, like choosing milk products or choosing other food types for breakfast. As one example.
Anyway ,10 ReplyNo. I hated green veggies back then and I still hate them today. No raw kale or spinach for me, thanks. I did change my mind a little bit on broccoli and I'll eat it now, but I'm not going to go out of my way to buy it. Mac and cheese is also still one of my favorite foods today (can't get any good stuff here in Korea).
10 Reply496 opinions shared on Food & Beverage topic. There are a few dishes that I had so often growing up that I just can no longer stomach them, spaghetti probably being the most notable dish.
I've been introduced to more foods as an adult, but I'd say no, my tastes haven't really changed.
I'd give anything to re-experience some of my favorite dishes as prepared by my mother or grandmother.
I haven't been able to come close to replicating them.

m +1 yNot in the food items per se, but in my demands for quality. As a student I would eat microwave meal versions or canned meal versions of what I like. Not any more! If I can't get it in a good quality ("Bio", "Organic"...), I'd rather make myself just a sandwich.
10 Reply Yes but sort of. I still like all the foods I at as a kid and those are sometimes comfort food. But, I've greatly expanded the list of what I like, particularly vegetables. Still don't like seafood unless it's fried.
15 Reply- +1 y
Mine changed somewhat. There were some things as a kid (seafood) that I didn't like. Now, I eat just about any sort of seafood.

OMG! LOBSTER? šš¤¤

I will gladly go to dinner then. I will take the lobster!
Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yPretty,
Funny how your tastes change as your income changes. So yes, I enjoy different foods today than I did I my 20's. That said, I am a New Orleans boy, and there is nothing that I grew up on that I do not still enjoy today. Jambalaya, Red Beans and Rice, Crawfish, Seafood Gumbo, Fried Catfish, Bread Pudding, Pecan Pie. So I guess you can't take the Nawlin's out of me.

- +1 y
Yeah same here
Not recently. I had a wrestling match in 7th grade and never really liked tomatoes before. I got a sandwich with tomatoes in it and loved it. Now I don't dislike tomatoes, as long as there aren't a lot of them.
I used to really like tofu and pistachio nuts. Then I realized that I was allergic to nuts and soy, so I don't eat them anymore, but I didn't start disliking them.
