Snowball? Snowcone? Shaved ice? Icy? Slushy? Etc?
I’ve always called it a snowball. My fave flavors are bubblegum, margarita, peach and bahama mama. Bubblegum pisses me off though bexause it dyes my teeth blue for the day if i dont brush immediately after. I spend like 15 mins scrubbing it off my teeth and tongue haha. Its my second fave frozen treat after Coke Icees. I eat snowballs maybe twice a year, once in the summer from the snowball stand, and the other time from the frozen section at the grocery store. As for Icees, I have to have one almost once a month when passing a gas station. But I especially crave them with a side of twizzlers when I go to the movie theaters and pay a whopping $10 for what is $2 at the gas station lol.

Lmao this post makes me ocd af! Please read @bananathunder opinion to understand the difference 😂 Above is a syrupy snowball in a cup (or snowcone if in a cone like the cheap ones off the icecream truck). Below those i posted an icee which comes in soda flavors and is at fast food places/movies/gas stations. Gas stations also have watered down slush puppies/slushies (minute maid)

A sno-cone (like above) is shaved ice with syrup added and you eat it with a spoon

A slushie is flavored ice already mixed and dispensed from a machine and you drink it with a straw

An Icee is a "foamy" flavored ice drink that is dispensed from a machine, already mixed and you drink it with a straw

A Slush Puppy is unflavored slushed ice dispensed from a machine and has flavored syrup pumped into it and you can drink it with a straw

That's called "Water Ice" in Philadelphia.
It's called "Italian Ice" in the rest of the Northeast US.

Both use fruit flavors, like cherry, lemon, lime, pistachio, orange, fruit punch, peach, etc. They are soft but solid, so you can drink them with a straw or eat them with a spoon.

It's called an "Icee" in the Midwest US, from the ICEE company.
In the South, it's called a "Slushie."

Icee's use soda flavors though and are usually carbonated, so not quite the same thing as Italian Ice. Icees are soft enough and enough of a liquid to drink through a straw.

Slushies use frozen beverages, sodas, and a few non-carbonated soft drinks, and have more ice bits to them than the others, so you have to eat Slushies more than you drink them.

In the West Coast US, it's called a "Snowball" if it's in a cup.
And it's a "Sno Cone" if it's in a triangle or cone.

Snowballs have even more ice bits in them than even Slushies have. And like Slushies, you can't drink them. Can only be eaten with a spoon or by hand.

It's called a "Slurpee" at 7-Eleven. Slurpees use soda flavors, so they're just brand-name Slushies. Slurpees are drinked through a wide straw.

I grew up in Philadelphia, and in fact, lived down the street from a water-ice place, so we called them "water ice" where I lived, but the slightly more accurate term would be "Italian Ice."

I think that would be called a slushy. I was thinking it was a snow cone but those are typically made with syrup poured on top of ice. Or it could be shaved ice. But that looks like the syrup is actually frozen in to slush. Which is delicious! I like the blue raspberry or orange flavors the most.

Snow cone only if it’s actually in a cone, otherwise shaved ice or Italian ice.
I rarely eat them any more. A slushee is more liquid than snow cones though, i think. You can drink a slush through a straw, like an icee, but not a snow cone. I often have a Coke icee at the movies, or a cherry coke blend if they have both.

I usually call the icy treats based on what they are and how they're consumed. If you sip it through a straw, it's a freezie or slushie. If you eat it with a spoon, it is a snowcone or shaved ice. For slushies my favorite is the blue raspberry flavor. For the shaved ice I like watermelon mint, but I've had other flavors too.

For me, I guess it depends on how it’s served. Snowcones usually come in the cone shaped cup. Icys you get at the pizza shop or one of the ladies selling them on the street. A slushy is the 7/11 ones. I’ve never heard snowball before.
