I was reading about Redfish in the waters of Miami. When tested, these fish had heart medication and opioids in them. Do you ever eat 🐟 fish?

Trending & News It it doesn’t matter where you fish, all water on earth is polluted. Organic molecules like pharmaceuticals, persistent herbicides, pesticides, fossil flues, plastics, etc., heavy metals from coal power plants, nitrates, nitrites, sulfates, sulfides, etc. from fertilizer runoff and acid rain from industrial activity, bacteria, and viruses from sewage and decomposing organic matter in green spaces, radiological materials from mining activity, local geology, industrial accidents, etc. halogens and other carcinogens from industrial waste, etc. all in the surface and ground water which eventually makes its way to the ocean for circulation all around the globe. The higher the trophic level an organism belongs to, the more concentrated those pollutants will be in their tissue due to repeated predation on smaller organisms which were exposed. Juvenile redfish are ambush predators in shallow water estuaries that feed on crabs, shrimp, mullet, pinfish, croaker, marine worms, etc. As they age they move to deeper waters from the mid Atlantic to gulf of Mexico. Bull reds migrate to spawn as colder weather begins in the fall. So regardless of where you catch a predatory fish it is expected to find some sort of contamination and specifically for Redfish, I’m sure you’ll find the same sort of results regardless if you catch them in Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Georgia, or North Carolina. But sure, keep living your Florida hating delusions, just because Florida scientists too the time to actually do the research and inform the public.
This is the same reason why it’s recommended that you only eat tuna fish once a week. They are top level predators and over their life they accumulate large amounts of pollutants in their tissue by eating smaller organisms. Most notably would be mercury from coal power plant pollution.

Have you ever heard the expression "Quit while you're ahead"? I really enjoyed reading your opinion. You are very smart, and very are informative about the subject at hand. You were throwing, but I'm not catching. "Be sure, keep living your Florida hating delusions, just because Florida scientists took the time to actually do the research and inform the public". I do not understand what you are wanting me to understand by what you said - because I don't 🤷🏼♀️
Unless I catch my self never.
Not where I fish. Fresh water, catfish. I fish on a private lake.
Depends on the breed. I typically get channel cat. I actually hold a state record for the biggest one caught in my state. It was a two person job mind you..
They are indeed bottom feeders but they eat things like bugs and crustaceans and the occasional small fish
To answer your question though, they are fantastic to eat if you get them from a safe lake.. They taste a bit like chicken. And have no fishy flavor if soaked In beer over night.
Thankyou

Water is a wonderful thing but unfortunately there are things in our water that make you wonder & most people don’t even know about it.

You go to the supermarket, you buy food & if you ever had it tested you would probably find a few things that would make you sick.
I love seafood. It's my favorite kind of meat.
It's an absolute tragedy how badly we have polluted the oceans and fresh water lakes and rivers.
I like tuna sandwiches.
My wife and I had salmon cakes for dinner a couple nights ago.
Unfortunately, predatory fish like tuna, shark and swordfish have higher concentrations of toxins like mercury and even PCBs. The only ones of those I enjoy are tuna, but I try to get the tuna we eat at home from companies that catch them in better parts of the ocean and check their levels of mercury.
I like things like sole, sea bass and cod. They tend to come from cold water places like Alaska and Chili. But, yeah, all seafood and fresh water fish is contaminated to some degree. A lot of fish from the Pacific are even polluted from Fukushima radiation. So sad.
Damn fish are getting hooked on fentanyl too. That's all we need, finding dirty needles at the bottom of the ocean and fish trying to beat you out of your spare change when you go swimming to score for their next fix. This is all Bidens fault.
@exitseven Biden said it's Trump's fault 🤷🏼♀️🙂😎
I have heard that down stream from sewage treatment plants. Fish are affected by hormones and even birth control meds.
Eew! I love fish, but I'll think twice before eating. Is anything safe anymore?
Where've you been? Pretty much every place fish are sourced from has been seriously contaminated with something or other; the only question is whether you want mercury or chlorinated biphenyls.
I have eaten redfish and other salt water fish all my life caught from the lower Gulf coast of Florida, Ten Thousand Island area south of Marco Island. I don't think I would eat fish caught from the Miami area waters.
Rarely but damn that could be why some people end up fiends
I stopped eating fish in the 6th grade.
