Bourbon or corn whiskey (which differs in the barrel and aging requirements from bourbon). For an old fashioned I want a bourbon with 75-90% corn, but occasionally I get crazy and go for a 100% corn bourbon
Evan Williams Single Barrel
Old Forester 86 if it's cold outside
Michter’s US-1 is a great sipping high corn bourbon and makes a great O. F.
I. W. Harper 15... think my last bottle was $85ish... but for a treat yourself bourbon it's really nice.
For 100% corn bourbons
Hudson Baby Bourbon Whiskey because it is straight up liquid popcorn
Yellow Rose Outlaw Bourbon is not as complex, but if you want a simple caramel pecan bourbon with a creamed corn vibe, here ya go.
Balcones Texas Blue Corn Bourbon... you love it or hate it... it's pricey so if you don't know get an airplane bottle, but high proof and a different in-sun aging brings the sugar to the forefront. Salted butter on fresh cornbread, moving to Red Hots and finishing with toasted marshmallows, THIS makes the old fashioned that you don't want to slam back but sit around and sip in an ascot or some uppity ist like that. It's one of my favorites, but it's not an every day thing.

I'm not a "cocktail" guy.
I prefer my bourbon "neat" and BIB.
Rye is not quite to my taste.
I am not sure I know what rye is and I'm not sure I ever had bourbon either - maybe once in my life when my rich family was visiting me from the United States.

I drink both on the rocks -- ideally one large ice cube
Yeah but that doesn’t answer the question at all.
Shit sorry I read the question wrong.
I clicked on Rye because I don't like fermented rotten corn mash. I would Aldso drink a good Scotch or Irish whisky from an old fashion glass.
I'm too young to drink so I can't answer this one yet. Ask me in a few years!
Definitely Rye! I tried so many combinations with different bourbons and rye is def my favorite
I don’t drink that I would prefer a piña colada in a festive environment
Of the two choices, bourbon. I actually prefer an old fashion with brandy or cognac.
Bourbon or a blended scotch.
I've never had rye. Maybe I'll try it.
I’ve never tried an old fashioned tbh
