At one minute past midnight on the third Thursday of each November, more than a million cases of Beaujolais begin their journey across France with a race to get the first bottles to different markets across the globe.

It's known as Beaujolais Day and is one of the years biggest events in Swansea, Wales where women put on their glad rags and hit the town for some midweek drinking and getting completely rat arsed.

Beaujolais of course is drunk young rather than aged like cabernet sauvignon. Which brings me to the question

Do you prefer young or aged wines? New world or old?

This time of year, new.

I had no idea about the timing of Beaujolais Nouveau arriving in the US, just that it's our old Thanksgiving tradition..

Earlier today, I went to the liquor store to buy mine. I looked around and saw none. I asked the guy behind the counter if they were already sold out. He said, no and reached under the counter and showed me a bottle of 2023, "how many do you want?"

I just said "thanks, 23 is no longer nouveau."

I know approximately jack about shit when it comes to wine. I do know the basic types and common names and that's about it. I did make some sparkling apple bum wine from frozen concentrated apple juice and champagne yeast about 8 years ago. It turned out to be at least 14% alcohol and put three alcoholics to sleep. It tasted great for about 2 weeks after the fermentation slowed down, and then it went completely to shit because I put no sulfites or preservatives in it. Then started tasting like soy sauce.

Young men, old wines not another way around. I like wines like very dark Georgian Kagor or white Rieslings, this type of wine needs its time to get rid of fermentation taste. All those "young" Italian and French wines have slight bouquet of yeast and I don't like that.

It depends on which dish it goes with, but personally I prefer younger wine, but what I really prefer is white wine.

I love German Model + Rhine riesling wines

French red wine, particularly from Bordeaux.

But my favourites are New Zealand sauvignon blanc wines, especially from my home province Marlborough (try Cloudy Bay sav blanc, nicely chilled, and you'll see how good they are !)

I like my wine like I like my women… wet.

The young ones are fun and juicy as I would say. The older ones though grab your attention and are more memorable. While variety is the spice of life, I would select the older ones if a choice had to be made.

I love old kombucha. Especially one that’s been sitting in scobby for some time.
I don’t drink alcohol so I cannot say in terms of wine. But I encourage people to always try kombucha.

Old, I still remember trying a measure of '82 Petrus and it was the most wonderful stuff but given that shot alone was £200

It depends Some wines like real Beaujolais are good when fresh. red wine with lots of tannin I like when they have some oak age and bottle age on them.. Esp. grand crus
