Do you eat carrot tops?

When I was growing up, bunches of carrots at the grocery store always had the tops. The cashier would ask if you wanted the tops and most people said no, so the cashier would twist the tops off before putting the carrots in your grocery bag.
Seems like a waste.

Now days, I rarely see tops on carrots in stores.

My wife and I now grow some carrots and wondered about the green tops. Come to find out, they're good!

Jk😂 This is a cool question though. Certainly a thing from a time I wasn't around in. I think I can vaguely remember carrot tops in the store when I was a little boy, but for the most part you're right, you don't see that kind of thing. You either see bald baby carrots or full growns with the ends chopped off.

yes, I tried growing my own but didn't go so well. if the animals, bunnies and gophers, eat them, you know they are good. also good... radish greens!

yes. We love all kinds of green leafy veggies… so when we see them with the green tops, we prefer getting them. We cool then with olive oil and garlic.. delicious 🤤

we get them from Whole Foods or farmers markets.

We have some co-ops here. And farmer's markets in the summer are wonderful.

Have you ever added them to salads?

Not I…maybe lightbulb did. He likes to add lots of diff. things into his salad. I eat more cook veggies…so now we have both options throughout the week with cooked veggies and salad greens.

No. I only like carrots if they are in stew or surrounding a beef roast with gravy. Otherwise I can't stand the taste of carrots. But I wanna try this. I think its a roasted or glazed carrot? I don't know

I've come to find that most things you'd chuck away can be good in a stew, though I've haven't see carrots with tops aft ages now, but then it's been ages since I went to a greengrocer.

Just in the cheapest places. Surprisingly these days, that's the German supermarkets, I try to keep my weekly between 30-45 for me and little one. Though I could do it cheaper if I didn't buy so much crap lol

We've tried them in salads and also chopping them and putting them in different kinds of soups and other warm dishes.
