Cook most of the time.

Example -- Can't afford the ridiculous prices of carry-out. Just made linguini Alfredo for supper. 10 oz. milk, $0.20, 1 T flour. $0.01, 1 c. cheese $0.00 (got it at our Food Pantry, 5 oz pasta $0.31, plus $.25 for the cupboard (distributed cost of seasonings, etc. per meal). So that was about $0.26 per serving or the two of us. Tossed salad (Lettuce, tomatoes, basil), and raspberries/strawberries for dessert were all from our yard. Distributed cost of seeds, etc was about another $0.10 each. If we'd have gone out, this would have run about $10 each for the pasta, $4-5 each for side salads and $1.00+ each for a fruit cup, so $30 minimum.

I usually cook because take-away is just too expensive to do. I'll do it if I'm on the run or didn't have time to cook that day. I don't mean I have to make elaborate meals. A simple grilled sandwich will do. Or maybe a can of soup with some bread. I certainly enjoy cooking a meat-and-veggies types of dishes, but that doesn't always happen. Just as long as I can go into my pantry and find something and do it myself, I will.

When I saw this question, I immediately thought of chinese food. I like cooking my own in the crockpot once in a while since my stomach is sensitive to the fried foods. I usually make hawaiian chicken, brown rice, and cauliflower rice.

Cook myself, only eat from restaurant (either deliver or inside the restaurant) on special occasions, otherwise it gets too expensive
