I didn't know in the US there is no law that you have to tip. This is great. I can save a bunch of money doing this. THey will survive without me :)

If you can afford to eat out, you can afford to leave a tip.

And the corollary is: if you can't afford to leave a tip, you can't afford to eat out.

To the Asker: imagine you sold me something, and I only paid you 2/3 of the price, and you had to cover the rest out of your own pocket. That's essentially what you are doing to the servers if you don't tip them properly.
