If you add the cabbage concoction aka curtido to a quesadilla, doesn’t it taste the same as a pupusa 🫓?

AND if you DONT add the curtido to a pupusa it taste like a quesadilla?

if both made with hand made tortillas of course.
don’t compare a flour quesadilla or a store bought tortilla quesadilla to this.

I’m specifically talking about a homemade corn tortilla for the quesadilla to compare it with a pupusa 🫓

and strictly comparing cheese stuffed, not other ingredients like beans or meats etc

Yes they do. With hand made tortillas They both taste like a pupusa if they both have curtido on the top and both taste like quesadilla if they both don’t have curtido

I couldn’t find a photo of the homemade tortilla quesadilla as most people make them just adding cheese to an already precooked tortilla. That’s is not what I’m talking about and it doesn’t match the photo I posted. It’s all I could find.
So the answers will not be accurate as most of you automatically compared a pupusa to a flat precooked tortilla with cheese smh 🤦‍♀️

I've never heard repollo called curtido, thanks for teaching me something new. in my opinion pupusas and quesadillas are different in taste and texture. pupusas are softer than quesadillas, and thicker than them, made from cornflour, water, and salt. quesadillas are made from flour because theyre tortillas, so theyre thinner but often a bit harder since the outside gets crispier. even if you eat them with repollo, the taste is different. also, mexicans and salvadoreans have different methods to make repollo/curtido and different ingredients.

Specifically comparing a freshly corn home made tortilla for the quesadillas which come out just as soft and thick as a pupusa and adding the exact topping which is called curtido

I’m talking about a fully home made tortilla where you make the masa from scratch exactly like the pupusa. Only you add other stuff to the pupusa and add the cheese to the raw masa

The quesadilla is adding the cheese while it’s being halfway cooked.

I think most of you are talking about the fast made quesadilla where you just add the cheese to an already precooked tortilla and it’s all flat 🤦‍♀️

It’s a home made corn tortilla which the end result gives you a more puffy texture not flat skinny with filling

Yeah the pupusa would have a more delicious taste in my opinion but just comparing the two both being homemade I feel they have a very similar taste and not comparing it to the average flat precooked tortilla and just adding cheese that’s almost not even passing as a meal really.
I think most people even Mexicans from Mexico don’t do this and just add cheese to an already cooked tortilla which is why I believe the answers won’t be accurate..

It's a big difference! Quesadillas is just a giant tortilla with cheese and whatever meat.

Pupusa isn't made with a tortilla, the outside is made with Masa. It tastes different and the texture is different.
