I spent a period of time surviving (I can't honestly call it living) off of plasma donations. Getting (on average) one meal a week that wasn't primarily or exclusively rice makes you appreciate food, even if you couldn't before.
Then I got a job at a fast food place. The money wasn't great, but compared to sixty bucks a week, it was phenomenal. But every time I saw people throw food away, I had to resist the urge to punch them. When you've known hunger...
Years later, I'd wind up homeless, surviving off Costco free samples and scrounging for change at the side of the road to buy day-old loaves of bread at Walmart. Getting (on average) one meal every two and a half days makes you appreciate calories, above and beyond food.
I'd thought things were bad when I was taking a Super Soaker to the neighborhood raccoons in a fight over the old pizza the neighbors threw out, but they could (and did) get so much worse... I don't think I could resist the urge to punch those people any more. Ditto for those who refuse to eat anything not fresh-made.
I’ve been in tight spots, not fighting raccoons like you, but hungry tight spots and I agree 100%
I prefer eating healthy, home-made food, but don't enjoy cooking every day. So my wife or I often make a large amount of food when we do cook. Soup, roasts, chicken, chili, spaghetti sauce, casseroles all make wonderful leftovers. Depending on what they are, I eat some for lunch or we have them for dinner two nights in a row.
I even eat some leftovers cold out of the frig for lunch. I like it, although my wife thinks eating cold food is gross and always heats hers up.
Some things taste better cold.
Yes, I don't have much food rests and it ends as bird food.
yes... i'm not throwing out food so easily that's insane
👍👍👍
I can’t fathom it

Because if you don't, then it's just a waste of delicious food you cooked that week.
I cook pretty much every other day to every 3 days, and I cook for 2-3 days because I'm a lazy fucker that doesn't want to cook every day. It's more fun to cook when you're trying to do a recipe you think would be fun to try rather than work with whatever you have in the fridge and pantry and making something out of it. I mostly see cooking as a chore 😂
effing right! Leftovers mean that I made it from scratch in the kitchen. Like tonight's soup :-). I will look forward to having more of it for lunch tomorrow before heading out on a chilly bike ride
Kindred spirit 🙂
I'm pretty much the garbage disposal in our house, she will sometimes enjoy leftovers with me if I am home for lunch or I'm not working that day. She's gone this week, so I'm going to enjoy that quart of soup that's left for my lunch tomorrow!
I even save food in freezer bags in portion sizes if it’s too much. Instant lunch material. 😎 many foods even taste better the next day, soup definitely
Certainly do! Why not? What'd you WANT me to do, just throw all that food away? It's CERTAINLY NOT gonna hurt you!! When dad was a kid, once a month, grandma would clean out the fridge and anything that had mold on it, she'd cut off the mold and toss the rest into a big pot to make stew out of it! She, her hubby and all 6 of her kids ate it and, except for grandpap who died of a heart attack in his 70's, they all lived well into their 80's and 90's!
Yes, I eat a lot of left overs. I'm a good cook and I don't like letting things go to waste. I'm not gonna throw out a bunch of meals when other people in the world are literally starving just because I don't feel like cooking. That being said, I'm no Gandhi by any means and yeah, I'll sometimes do exactly that but...8 times outta ten, I try really hard not to pull that crap and waste food which equals money in the end.
Of course. I’m single and no way I’m gonna cook for myself every night and buy lunches. I cook in bulk and live off it for several days
I completely relate
Whenever we have leftovers, I eat them, though I have to admit that we don't have a lot of leftovers. My grandmother taught me to clean my plate when I was growing up (she lived with us) and I usually do that ever since.
Yes. If I've made too much food, why throw away perfectly good food? The added bonus is that I can be all set for lunch for several days.
💯 % same here. And dinner another day I don’t want to cook
All the time
Reason is I don't want to make anything for lunch and bringing leftovers mean I don't have to leave to go buy something elsewhere
Same here
Sometimes. I’m VERY picky about food. And I’m weird about microwaves, haha. So if I do leftovers, I usually heat them up the long way, in the oven or on the stovetop.
Yes I eat leftovers as long as they are mine. I don´t eat other people´s leftovers. Mainly to save money and I don´t want to waste food I prepared.
Yes I take them to work and eat cold, save £££s on bought lunches,,,
Same 👍
It doesn't happen in this home lol...
But if we have any they disappear fast
yes, some BBQ do have left overs... surprisingly
Absolutely. All I do is meal prep throughout the week.
Very, very rarely. I like to make just enough to feed us and no more.
Sometimes leftovers taste better then the first time around. Why would you be wastful with food when some are struggling to put food on the table at meal time.
Because some food taste even better after "fermenting" a couple days after being made.
I sure do eat leftovers. Some leftovers taste better on the 2nd or 3rd day. I'll eat it hot or cold.
I prepare my own meals, I don't eat the same meals as my family anyway.
But do you eat the leftover bits of your own meals later on?
It depends on what it is, I like some dishes hot and fresh.
Tasty food, and reduce waste.
😎👍
Yes, sure, I do
😋 👍
Depends on the food pal!
yes of course, most of the time
yes, I eat leftovers all the time.

Depends what it is
