How long can you survive without bread?

Around my hometown, it's hard to find artisan bake shops. For bread in supermarkets, I'm not sure it tastes right.

I think I could go indefinitely! I do get cravings for it but I've done very strict regiments for extended periods of time where I completely cut out all but the most complex carbs which typically meant cutting out all bread, pasta, rice.

It would be a bummer never to eat things like pizza or tacos or Indian curry with naan again. But I tend to settle in easily into a habit of meal-prepping and just eating the same things all the time (I can be happy with the likes of chicken breast and broccoli to the point of developing micro-deficiencies). It's usually only due to social exposure that I end up throwing in a lot of other things and more refined carbs again.

I don't actually eat artisan bread so much. They're definitely my favorite but it's more common for me to just eat plain white bread.

The texture sometimes surprised me. For example, I got used to French baguettes with an extremely hard crust (could probably break things with it) originally. Then I found some with a soft crust in various countries (including here in Japan) which was very different from what I was used to. I know very little about bread overall so maybe there are different types of French baguettes. I just started off always assuming that they had a rock-hard crust.

Thank you for your detailed answer. Bread in my country is mostly sweet like Japanese, 食パン. When I bake my bread to give away, I have to warn people that it's not like what they're used to. I'd like to know how it is like for foreigners.

I either make my own bread or but it fresh made and dtill warm from a local Italian bakery.

In Poland, we have a lot of artisan and regional bakeries and it's hard to find anything tasting similarly in other countries.

Lived A Bit in Egypt and There Bread Was Like Used for a Plate, Flat Like a Pita Bread. I Now Do Not Eat Much Bread as I Was Dieting So Have It Once in Awhile. White-Wheat Healthy Bread. xxoo

I was gluten free for 2 years. Never ate bread cuz the gluten free kind of bread was icky at that time (now they've improved it) so I guess 2 years 🤷‍♀️

Bread yes. Got a mixer with a dough hook, an oven with a bread rise function. If I prepare the dough before hand I can have fresh bread for breakfast. If not it takes an hour - 10 mins for the dough mixing, 30 min for rising, 20 min baking.
