Have you ever pretended to like someone’s cooking? What was it?

Very often growing up like when I stayed at a friend's house and didn't like the dinner. In Japan we are taught to eat every last grain of rice in the bowl even if we hate it and say it's delicious and thank the person for the meal.
I forgot exactly what meals I disliked so much, just that I ate everything down to the last grain of rice and still thanked them for the meal as a boy.
One I do remember vividly is that when I went to the US, my American grandmother thought I was so thin (she was a rather heavy woman). So she gave me an entire plate full of the greasiest bacon, like compared to Japan, maybe 20 times the servings of bacon that a normal Japanese would eat at once. I started eating it, but in the middle of eating it, I had to secretly run to the toilet and vomit because it made me feel so sick. I then ate the rest and thanked her for the meal but I was so sick for the entire day.
Nowadays I'm no longer a picky eater though. I can like just about anything and if I don't initially, I reframe the way I think so that I can like the taste after changing the way I think about it.
By exes mom cooked for us one time. I had to pretend it was good
Very nice of you🙂
Didn’t feel good lying but I had to in that case
I call it respect or courtesy actually, the intent or intention was good
That’s kind of you. I was happy she told me girlfriend I was a keeper.
👍🏻🙂
I dont pretend to like it. But I don't say anything mean either, I just tell them I am not very hungry or that I don't eat that particular food which is true because most of the time I don't like some specific foods others cook, therefore I don't even try the cooking.
Nice🙂
I know😊
I suck on pretending, lol...
One of my friends cooked my favorite Chilli con Carne. But something went really wrong and it didn't taste good... one look on my face says more than a thousand words... lol
we ordered delivery and I paid lol
I think it is also depends on how much you know the person or if she/he a close friend
Nice of you to pay for the delivery🙂
unfortunately for me it doesn't work this way... my face and body show my likes and dislikes...
Gotcha

When I was in high school I had gone to my friend's house to hang out & fix his mom's computer. I was there all day, & that night his mom made supper to thank me for helping her. It was really good, & I told them all how much I liked it. Her computer was always having problems because she would download those virus-laden screensavers & I had to go fix it pretty often. Well, every time after that first time when she made food it was really boring & bland, but I couldn't bring myself to say anything because I had kind of established thst I liked her food. Plus, it would be rude to say I didn't like it. I felt bad because it was never very good after that first time. So I always pretended that it was great but inside I was like "bleh!".
Very kind of you to do so🙂
Quick question, is your age 104 y/o? 😳
I have never had to yet. But I'm a polite person who wouldn't tell you even if it was horrible. My brother once when just first for married was eating a meal his wife made. He started first and she tried it and she said it was horrible she screwed something up. She took the plate away from my brother asked why he would eat it with it being so bad. I know I would do the same exact thing.
Very nice of your brother and of you🙂
I know, but just wanted to tell u in advance it will be a nice thing to do
Yeah my sister in law, she’s a good cook but she did this recipe one time and so messed it up, it was really not great but we all said we enjoyed it. Then politely offered suggestions later in the day.
Nice of you all🙂
Yes, with every woman I've ever dated who tried to cook. I never criticized because at least they were trying. Many women today don't even try. I applaud the ones who do, because they are at least trying and they can improve if they work at it. But women who cook well are largely extinct
Nice of you🙂
I don't ever pretend, but let's just say I find it hard to finish food I don't like and never go for seconds 😂
Lol 😆
I have.
My old best friend made chocolate meatballs.
Was so bad and she kept giving me more because other people weren’t eating them. I just really didn’t have the heart
Nice of you 🙂
When I lived with my friends and their daughter, the daughter was learning to bake and would make terrible baked goods. Cookies, muffins, brownies, banana bread, etc. Nobody wanted to eat them but I would so she wasn't sad.
Awesome🙂
my best friend made chocolate cake that tasted like refrigerator smell
had to pretend it was good so I don't mess up her promotion day
Very kind of you 🙂
I am not a good actor so I have always been proponent for the reality woth its all explicit circumstances. Apart from all these, if I dar to say that I did it somewhat for my mom's cook :)
Poor Mama🙂
Why? :)
I am keen on her foods at most of times but to herbaceous meal like spinach, eggplant or cauliflower :)
She cares about your health😁
But every health food is tasteless haha :D they're disgusting.. :P
You are right😁
More times than I could count with a fucking abacus. MMM yes this turkey is totally moist and plucked all the way through! That's not a feather, it's a toothpick!
Yucky
Nope. It is more disrespectful to lie to someone about food being good when it wasn't.
I will do it out of courtesy and not to hurt their feelings
I do my best to be honest. Not in a asshole way. But it’s best not to lie. You can say nothing… Remember that. But don’t lie.
Yeah, my mother's cooking. Her mashed potatoes and gravy are ghastly. But a good son is just gonna man up and eat it and tell her it's delicious.
Very nice of you🙂
I'm kind of brutal about it because I know food poisoning can kill somebody let's just hope my girlfriend never ever cooks something bad otherwise that relationship will probably be over faster than it started
I can try but they can see it from my face that I didn't like it.
A few times. I just took a tiny portion and got it down the hatch first.
It was probably meatloaf, nobody can usually make that good enough to like eating
Yeah. My cousin made some soup but it was waaaaay toooooo salty.
Nope. If it sucks you'll know it.
Yea. I need to be brutal
Whyyyy😁
No, not if I don’t like it
No I don't pretend. Also the reason I'm single
😂 I have too many times
Yes, many times. Too many to name
