I was hoping it was a better story than it was named after a city.
But sometimes history isn't always gonna be entertaining. Win some lose some.

Trending & News I'm also dying to know where in Germany the city of Cheeseburg is located? :-)
I always assumed it was named for Hamburg in Germany where they must have come up with it. I'd be interested if it's something else.
A true hamburger should be a pork sandwich and Hamburg shouldn't exist.
Sandwich is a town in England as well... Damnit
Yeah and it's not made out of sand either
A sand witch? Me at the beach.

Why is it called Lake Titicaca if it's not full of boobs and poop?
Imagine if every food was named after the place the item originated?
Alls I know is that I would like my French fry inside a hamburger..
Oh, yeah it sure feels pretty go- I mean.. Yes it does taste delicious!
As a wise man, whose philosophy I fully agree with once said, "Reality is often disappointing"... As another wise man whose philosophy I also agree with once said, "Wake up to reality, Nothing ever goes as planned in this accursed world".. As another wise woman once said "In reality, I like my nuggies juicy"...
They are named after Hamburg, Germany. I heard that on some podcast.

It originated from hamburg Germany. It's where beef was first served chopped.
because of the germans. first germans brought over the hamburg steak to america. and then it evolved into what it is today
They originated in a city called Hamburg, located in present day Germany
Good question lol
I find it amusing that Americans are baffled by this. They come from the German city of Hamburg
I believe they were first made in Hamburg. It's like nobody remembers which Earl of Sandwich the sandwich is named after...
John Montague was said to prefer his meat between two slices of bread because, as an avid card player, he didn’t want to get grease on his cards. The problem is that it’s not known if it’s a true story because it was first published in a book of satire.
It IS a bit far fetched to think that a man who couldn’t bear to put his cards down long enough to eat a meal could rise to Earl during a time when fair importance was placed on etiquette and manners.
Good point I never thought of that. They should be called Beefburgers
Luckily Americans haven't discovered Hamburg's other delicacy Schmalzkuchen or the obesity crisis would get out of hand for good.
Named for hamburg germany
