Why are hamburgers called hamburgers when they’re made of beef and not ham?

A Hamburg (Salisbury) steak is where it gets it's name, but putting it inside a bun as a sandwich for workers to take to the factory, mine, farm, etc. was something that started in the USA. Obviously they dropped the gravy and came up with other toppings over time and it changed from a Hamburg steak sandwich to a Hamburger...
When I was a small boy, we lived in the German town of Hamburg but, my father got tired of people always calling him a Hamburger, so he decided to move us to Frankfurt.
Seriously? Hahahahahahahahaha !!!
"I'm a hard core New York... What about you?"
"Umm... Errrrrr... I'm a Hamburger".

In the U. K. we call it a beef burger.
Most American language seems to be very literal though.
For the same reason we park on the driveway, and drive on the parkway. lol
My hot water heater doesn't heat hot water, it heats cold water. I guess it's because I don't really need hot water heated, I need cold water heated. :)
The English language is crazy.

maybe the word ham isn't actually the meat ham but letter that stand for something like Has a lot of Meat 😂
The common belief is that the American hamburger borrowed its name from a dish called "Hamburg Style Beef" or "Hamburg Steak" which arrived in the United States from the German city of Hamburg in the 19th century. The dish was nothing more than chopped meat eaten raw.
