One thing I've noticed is people will often order a beer with a meal when eating out, but at home, they'd usually go for a soft drink or perhaps a glass of wine.
I get the logic of beer, particularly with rice dishes, but I don't know anyone who drinks beer with food at home, only at a restaurant.
1.7K opinions shared on Food & Beverage topic. I don't hate beer but I'm not crazy about it. It's not a treat for me. My wife likes it more than I do and enjoys pale ale, hefeweizen, Asahi, Sapporo, Tsingtao, and Smithwicks.
About the only time I'll order a beer is when eating spicy Mexican or Thai food. Then I might enjoy a Modelo Negra, Asahi, Sapporo or Tsingtao.
And sometimes, if I'm in the mood, I'll have a pint or two of stout on tap at a pub.
Other than that, nah, I'd rather drink something else.00 Reply

Cider for me when eating out, which isn't often and is almost always related to work.
Couldn't drink what I drink at home in any case... which is a combo of Apple & Elderflower juice, Red Bull, a bit of Orange Juice and Morgan's Spiced Rum (in order of decreasing quantity).00 Reply

I'm here on Girls Ask Guys because I love diving into the world of food and drink, exploring various culinary experiences. When it comes to having a beer with my meals, it does depend on the setting and type of food. Eating out has its own vibe, doesn't it? There's something about the atmosphere of a restaurant or a pub that just makes a cold beer feel right, especially with certain dishes like a hearty burger or spicy wings. At home, I'm more likely to pair my meal with what I have on hand, which could be a soft drink, wine, or even water. But I won't deny, a beer at home with a homemade pizza or sushi night can elevate the experience. It's all about matching the drink with the meal’s flavors and your mood! 🍺🍕

No, I avoid beer at all cost. I don’t like the taste and it gives you belly. I prefer whiskey, wine or gin. Used to have beer and Vodka during my University time when I was out to the club with friends. Now I mostly have alcohol at home, especially when I cook meals like pasta, red meat, salmon or burger.

usually it’s a glass of red wine, however I do have a lager with my meal at home now n then. Off for an Indian this weekend, the place is not licensed so need to take booze with us.

1 yThat's mostly what I do. I rarely have a beer at home, but when we go out to dinner, I sometimes have a beer, like we did last Saturday. At home, I usually drink cold diet ginger tea, Gatorade or water... occasionally a glass of wine.

1 yI quit drinking 22 years ago, but when I did drink, I never ordered beer or alcohol when dining out.
I enjoyed my meals alcohol-free, even while others drank wine.
When I drank, it was to have fun. Which is the main reason I quit: I was having too much fun.00 Reply
1 yThere is something true in what you write. Indeed I drink often wine when eating my midday meal at home, but often strong beer at a restaurant.

People be chugging down beers in 2-3 Liters like it's apple juice.
Give me cocktails (like a lady? if so, make it glittery too 😆) or orange juice or carbonated water with lemon and lime (and mint)!

@msmissydc Looks like the place I'm thinking of is breaking that law. 0,2l Pils or Helles is 2,80, the same amount of Sprite or Fanta is 3,00. 0,33 of mineral water is also 3,00.
I won't tell, if you won't! (It really is an excellent restaurant.) - 1 y

Wine often compliments a meal. But eating out is considered a special occasion where one can splurge. I think that someone who always has alcohol with every meal might remain cautious of themselves and their potential for abuse.
I personally am not a huge fan of large gatherings of people so a beer would be a calming agent.
