What climate fruit do you prefer?

For simplicity, let's split fruit up into threw groups according to where it's most COMMONLY grown.
We'll call them cold, warm, and tropical fruits
Before anyone starts moaning, yes I know you can grow things like melons, figs, peaches and grapes in the UK, but they're generally happier in warmer countries like France.

So what do you generally prefer

Cold climate fruits. E. g apples, pears, plums, strawberries etc

Warm climate fruits. E. g Orange, figs, grapes, peaches etc

Tropical fruits, e. g pineapple, banana, mango etc

I eat a mix of everything

Cold climate. Plums are my favorite! In Czechia (also exists in Poland, Germany and Austria) there's this for showy spread called Povidel. It's made from just late season plums. No sugar or sweeteners added. Its naturally sweet without being too sweet. I can get some at any polish market in NYC, Krakus being my usual go to. But they usually just have the "factory" made version which does have sweeteners added. When I go to visit my grandma in Czechia, she always has a few jars ready for me. I will gorge on them with bagels! It's also really good on toast. One of my uncles mixes it in with his tea, but I'm not a fan.

Is that like a plum butter. You can get it in uk supermarkets in the east euro aisles.

It is plum butter! I've only ever been to the UK 2 times for vacation so never had the chance to explore the markets like that. Is it natural povidel or the ones with syrup and sweetener?

Mix of everything. Fruits from cold climate are more aromatic due slower metabolism of plants while cold seasons, but pineapples, mangoes, oranges and limes don't grow here.

If I was forced to pick just one or another though then definitely warm climate fruits for me.

Mainly because of oranges honestly. I would probably say oranges are my favorite fruit period. They taste great and are usually not too expensive or hard to find. So they have everything going for them.

I picked warm climate fruits. My wife and I have fig, lemon, orange, pink grapefruit and mandarin trees.

But I also love tropical fruits.

Cold climate fruits are also good. I particularly like pears. Cold climate fruits are great for baking or canning.

Mix of everything please... TBH, I've never really thought about what climate each fruit grows in. When I was growing up, there were seasons for the various fruits. Today, all fruits are pretty much available year round, thanks to greenhouses, cold storage, and the global economy.

As an American living in the UK, I agree with you that you can grow somethings here in the UK but they are happier in warmer climates. Take watermelon for example, in the States they are like 3 times bigger than the ones you get here in the UK.

I prefer tropical fruits and also warm climate fruits. My favorite fruit overall is the guava when it is really ripe. It makes my mouth water. Next is peaches. Love them.
