Fizzy drinks or soft drinks if it’s in a more formal setting. I’m from the UK
I call them soda
Common beverages often have endearing and universal names. Coffee, often referred to as a morning elixir, offers a rich and aromatic beginning to the day. Tea, with its soothing charm, invites moments of relaxation. Juice rejuvenates with its refreshing and fruity burst, while water, simple yet vital, remains the essence of life. Each name carries cultural nuances, shaping our daily rituals with familiar comfort. ☕🍵🍊

Coke, regardless of brand is the brown stuff. Everything else is simply pop. Only cream soda gets called soda.
The real question is why do supermarkets label the aisle "soft drinks" when everyone calls it "pop"
No kid ever sings "I went to the shop to buy a bottle of soft drink..." it doesn't rhyme
Not everyone calls it pop. Many people call it soda which is short for soda pop. It's interesting how it's called different things in my opinion.
Also, It's called soft drinks because it is non alcoholic. The opposite is is hard drinks which have alcohol.
I've really only ever called it "soda" personally, lol. When people started calling them other names like soft drinks, pops, soda pops, etc, at first I was confused, though now I see they're different words for the same thing. So I understand the other words but I don't personally say them.
People were calling it soda pop and many of the other names way bedore you we were both born and I'm double your age practically lol
Through my years I've been taught through from the beginning soft drinks. But then as I moved around the country becames sodas, colas, soda pop, pop. Nowadays I call it poison. There's so much crap that's in it starting from fructose corn syrup and anything that I can outpronounce without a dictionary. I've got so much artificial garbage in it.
