Would ‘mixed grill’ be the lunch or dinner version of the ‘full English breakfast’ ? I guess they sound fine, if you were like really hungry! In that last picture, I see black pudding, which I can practically smell through the picture & is making me gag — I have history with that one — my parents were born & raised in Scotland & England, & of all the ‘odd food’ items they introduced to my siblings & I, most were tolerable (meat pies, HP sauce, mushy peas, Cadbury chocolates, Turkish delights, Polo mints, Ribena drink mix, etc. etc.), …EXCEPT black pudding! Ohh god that stuff makes me ill — 😂 LoL
You can also get an all day English breakfast in most places it's very similar but comes with beans and no chips.
Never had one that I really liked. There's always some stuff that's overcooked or just not good on it. I rather have a good single piece of meat then 6 average ones
I do love meat , and have eaten at least a couple of mixed grills thus far but I’d prefer one meat rather than the meat orgy I see there. Instead , gimme a perfectly cooked ribeye steak ( medium rare ) with some onion loaf , a decent helping of chestnut mushrooms , cavalo Nero , a gravy boat of beef dripping and a side of triple cooked & seasoned proper chips 😋😍
We don't have that exactly, but we have appetizer "sampler plates" with 3 or 4 different types of appetizers that are fairly similar. Chicken wings, mozzarella sticks, chicken strips, fries, egg rolls, chips & salsa, and things like that are often part of sampler plates.
Mixed grill offers a delightful symphony of flavors and textures that can be a real treat for the taste buds. It's the allure of variety: each meat bringing its unique taste profile. I remember enjoying a splendid mixed grill at a cozy Mediterranean spot, where the juicy lamb complemented the spicy sausages perfectly. Sure, it may not be gourmet, but the simplicity is often part of its charm. 🍽️

Of course. Where I grew up, in Northeast US, we had a special type of "mixed grill" called a garbage plate. Used to get one several times during the year, typically in the summer, with a Genesee Cream Ale. Delicious!
I love how the veggie part is ridiculously small on the plate, still there though, just enough to trigger a lesser guilt: "Heh. I ate some green stuff"
No, I don't know of any mixed grill custom here, I don't think it exists in restaurants. I would like to liberate these eggs though, they look like they are still entangled in their bed sheets
Mixed girl offer a delightful symphony of flavors and textures that can be a real treat for the taste buds. It's the allure of variety: each one bringing its unique taste profile. I remember enjoying a splendid mixed girl at a cozy spot in Amersterdam.
Those look delicious. The only similar thing that comes to mind down here is a seafood platter which is at every seafood restaraunt and poboy shop in Louisiana, a lot of other places too. Fried fish (usually catfish), oysters, and shrimp with fries is the standard.
Mixed grill is perfect when you can't decide what you want or when you like a bit of everything.
Or when you are just very hungry. 😅
I don't like a grilled mix too much...
it means that I can't make up my mind.
In fact: when I'm ''eating out'' I normally have a clear picture of what I get myself into.
And if I just go with the flow of who I'm with... I still prefer to fully enjoy ONE dish, than to 'test' a few other possibly inferiour dishes.
Yes, we have similar here in appetizer form and main courses.
it's too much for one meal for one person... :D
that's why meals are usually better... when shared
yeha!! it's my go to. i get it all in at once
I like it sometimes. A great option to have a variety.
It's often my go-to when I'm hungry. I'm trying to get away from having carbs and so a mixed grill but hold the chips is a great option for a mostly carnivore diet.
No my eat to be honest, I prefer health food 😅
No, thanks. I would rather not die from stomach cancer.
I eat out constantly and I have never been in a high-end or low-end restaurant or anything in between that has had mixed grill on the menu. I had to look it up to see what it was.
yes... but, our version of what grilling actually is... lol
I'll order a better one but not one featuring burgers or bacon
For the most part I don't care for a mixed grill.
Yes, I like mixed Grills. I'd prefer the one in your first pic, but preferably without the Black Pudding, for me that belongs in a Tattie Pot.
I've never had one, but I'm sure it would be good.
Yes, no tomatoes or black pudding; and it must be a fried egg.
Only mixed vegetarian grill ;)
Do they still have that?
I remember getting it in small hotels
Mixed grill with no dead animals on my plate is fine.
