There was a restaurant in my town. It was my favorite even before I lived here. The owner started with an Ice Cream stand when he came back from Vietnam in 1968. There was somebody in town that was going to be torn down. He had the barn moved to the site and made it a restaurant. It became a success. He found another old barn and added it on to the restaurant making it twice the size, soon he added a third one. There was a nice bar and lounge upstairs and they sometimes had live entertainment.

I used to go there with my friends. They had great seafood and steaks. There was also a salad bar that was amazing and they baked their own bread. You went and cut a big slice of fresh from the oven bred and they kept a big crock of butter next to it. They has a 22 oz steak that was awesome and you got a big baked potato with vegetables. The last time I was there was married and my son was a few months old. We had him in his baby chair on the table. After a while he started to get fussy. They had a girl that roamed around the restaurant singing and playing the guitar. She sang to him until he fell asleep.
The owned retires shortly after that ans a big chain bought the property and ruined it.

One that I LOVED to go to was remodeled and now stinks. It was at the top of a highrise with an incredible view of the city. The food used to be incredible with nightly themes. We went for my grandparents' 50th wedding anniversary.

Another one I loved (also gone bc a pompous developer wrecked it then had all his permits revoked) was a historical waterfront restaurant... the first place I ate here. They had the biggest jumbo shrimp I've ever seen and a dessert called "the snowball" (scoop of vanilla rolled in coconut and almonds and dropped into a fresh little pool of fudge). When I was a kid I'd wait ALL WEEK to have my shrimp cocktail and my lovely snowball scoop.

Sigh... Miss those two. Places today seem a bit more generic in that they all try too hard to impress.

I hate it when a chain takes over a local owned place and the ruin what made it great in the first place.

They weren't replaced by chains. The first was just completely remodeled and the chef replaced, which killed the vibe and loveliness. The second is still a barricaded mosquito pit in the middle of the largest beach in our area bc of a moronic billionaire developer who didn't think before he acted. At least I can say that I took my kids to the place before it was torn down. But they were so little they don't really remember it.

One of my favorite restaurants is in Knoxville, Tennessee. I believe it's called Grady's.
Inside aren't tables and chairs but different trains 🚃🚂. Like everything is separate because of the many trains inside.
We used to go there on Friday nights after work and all of us would always sit in this one train that we liked the best. The inside of each train was like a dining room just like on. a real train. It had tables and chairs as well as benches to hang out with your friends and have fun. 😊
Their fried mushrooms were to die for. Yummy 😋

My favorite place was called the Huntington town house. It's were i took my wife ( girlfriend back then) on our first date. It was valentines day. They had the best food i ever had. No matter what you ordered, it was cooked to perfection. We would go there on every special occasion for us.

Several years ago it was torn down and a Target was built in its place. We were so upset to see that place go

It was a restaurant call Moonshadows in Malibu California on Pacific Coas highway. It had great seafood and a wonderful patio overlooking the surf.

Not it is an empty lot from which the burnt debris and broken dreams were hauled off.

There's a family restaurant 5 min from me that serves breakfast day and night! It's my favorite. Ham and cheese omelet, American 🍟 and Texas toast lightly buttered. The cooks even know how I like my omelette! I like it a little browned on both sides, it enhances the taste lol
