Why is a pizza box square when pizzas are circles and are cut into triangles?

Why is a pizza box square when pizzas are circles and are cut into triangles?

Have you ever heard of squaring a circle or circling a square. In scared geometry it symbolized balance and the union of heaven and earth. I'm not sure if pizza place thought of this concept they were probably more of thinking of the cost. to me what you just said makes me think of scared geometry not pizza
Think "production and transportation costs of round pizza boxes versus square ones."
Easier and cheaper to manufacture and when storing the boxes, it basically takes the same space. So for them there's no advantage to do the extra effort
It's easy and cheaper to make square boxes than round.
Pizza boxes are square because they are easier and more cost-effective to manufacture. A square shape stacks well and provides stability during transport, reducing the risk of damage. The circular shape of pizzas fits comfortably inside, while the triangular slices make for easy handling and sharing. This geometric trio has become a classic combination that brings convenience from the kitchen to the table. 🍕
Clam up! No one asked you, ya bubble headed boobie!
@mat678 Damn AI idiots! Why even ask a question when these idiots horn in and steal the show? How do you block them anyway?

Square boxes are easier to stack up during delivery
Good point. I mean I don't use round boxes for cakes.
Square boxes are easier to manufacture and easier to ship. Pizza is round because spinning dough naturally results in that, although you can get square pizza. With round pizza, cutting it as we do is the most logical way to get pieces of approximately the same size.
didn't know about this but here are few ideas
1. Square boxes are easier to make than circles. For a circle box you need to cut it very accurately
2. Pizzas are in circle shape probably because the dough chefs use is the shape of a globe. When they use a rolling pin on it to make it thin it becomes circle.
3. Triangle cuts make the slices symmetrical. Same size for everyone. Or maybe thats how its branded lol
I bet it is the cost of making a box rounded.
Apparently so…

Why? They make hat boxes don't they?
It's the only way kids learn basic shapes (circle, square, triangle) and geometry, since schools are into teaching "the new math" that no one understands, not even the teachers. 😏
Have you ever tried to remove a pizza from a pizza oven with that VERY LIMITED space behind the counter? I HAVE!! You need a margin for error and need to "toss" it a bit into the box. It's also easier to store / handle squares.
It's basic math. Square equals rectangular.
Let's try plus triangle equals nineteen ninety five plus tip
It's much easier to make a square box than a round one.
Then why not a square pizza. Although Dominos has square pan pizzas and don't use round boxes.
So your pizza is just one big slab and no cuts?
I've seen pizzas being made by hand by rolling the doe, and they seem to naturally come out circular, and now it's probably tradition. I'm sure pizzas could be made any shape you want.
I think it's messy eating with your hands, especially when not at home, why would you eat your dinner using your fingers?
True, if I have a really messy pizza with too many toppings you are hard pressed to eat it with your hands. So I use a knife and fork too.
@nodecision Because it cost more to make round pizza box
I think that's how the flat earth theory came into existence what if the earth is flat like a pizza and the sky is the square box over and under it 🤯..
Clever! Because SAME shapes would be boring!
Supposedly a standard Google recruitment question is 'why are manhole covers round?' Think about it.
Its probably just because manufacturers waste NoDecision of cheaper ways to make money.. It's just cheaper most likely..
It saves money, would be my guess.
Because a box is square? And so it's tradition
it is probably cheaper to make a square box than a round one.
because its easer to manufacture a square box, duh.
It's because of cost-efficiency, and they are much easier to make.
Proof that we are easily fascinated while also being ingenious
All pizzaboxes have, as a primary purpose, the teaching of geometry.
Hmmm, square, round, triangle... you may have a point. I'm waiting for the trapezoid box.
Maybe the person who made the 1st pizza loved geometry 🤣🤣
It’s gonna be the way they cut it Or the design of the pizza bread
It's a lot easier to manufacture a square cardboard box
Because it's the least expensive box to produce.
As long as they don’t start throwing trapezoids into the mix I won’t complain
No I don't have any answer a good question and you're right And when did that start happening square pizza
Why can't the pizza be square to fit the box
That for Sicilian pizza, square Grandma pies, and other specialty square pies here in NYC
I never thought of that
It to help kids learn their shapes
Coz number 7 smells like purple
Cheaper
Round boxes ain't too common.
Geometry 😂
