I think attraction is not an on/off event. You can be determined to chase someone until you've made a family with them, you can want to sleep with them, you may want to have a quickie with them, you may want to be friends, be indifferent, or prefer not to see them, or be absolutely disgusted by them.

Obviously he does not want the first few options, and it sounds closest to him being indifferent.
