Are you growing any vegetables this summer?

This will be the third year in a row I am not having a garden,. It was a lot of work to go through to feed the bunnies.

I have urged him to put up a garden fence yearly but the garden/yard is his playground so I just let him do what he wishes
the sweet potatoes and potatoes, carrots, garlic, tomatoes, leafy greens, worked out really well. He also planned herbs like purple shiso. The animals seem to not show interest in these.
prior years, he planned yellow watermelons … when we returned from our trip I was excited to see 3-4 the size of a cantaloupe. So we waited and waited… one day, one was gone then another. So we took in the rest. It was delicious
It turned out that we had a groundhog living under our garage somewhere in a barrow. Took us $500. to get rid of it. Maybe one day hubby will put up a garden fence or he just wants to feed the animals.

Nope. The all-you-can-eat chipmunk buffet is officially closed for business! Besides, the water bill is higher than the price of organic veggies I buy at the market.

I never realized how much my cat did around here until he died.

That was 2 years ago. They won the war.

Yes. Carrots, potatoes, onions, chives, garlic, various squash, cucumbers, radishes, tomatoes, peppers, lots of different greens, cantaloupe, and other things I can't remember. My wife does much of the planting. .

My wife is the gardener in our family. We planted 2 peach trees, an avocado tree, and 6 citrus trees this year.

We planted blood orange, pink grapefruit, Meyer lemon, Persian lime, red lime, and mandarin. We'll have a citrus buffet.

We have 7 citrus trees on dwarf stock but they are still huge and produce like crazy. We have 2 improved Meyer lemons, a navel orange, 2 Valencia oranges, a pink grapefruit and a Mandarin. The Mandarin is the only one we have to harvest completely when they are ripe because they go bad on the tree. We can leave the others on the trees and harvest them all year as needed. We have so many that we even sell some to a farm stand.

I just ordered some Dipel (bacillus thuringiensis) and a duster to keep the bugs off her vegetables. That stuff works, and it's safe.

Some summers I’ve skipped growing veggies for the same reason: the rabbits and other “guests” enjoyed them more than I did.

You could try a few easy things in pots this year, like cherry tomatoes, basil, or peppers on a porch or balcony. Rabbits usually bother those less, and you still get that fresh, homegrown taste 🪴🍅

I'm always growing something. Florida isn't the place for Yankee vegetables though. They won't survive in the high heat and humidity. They will die of heat stress, fungus, bacteria, viruses, and pests. I can't really list everything I'm growing, but some of the stuff would be:
