I'm sorry but I don't even know single
You don't know Spaghetti? 😳🤨
My Spicy Sausage Shrimp pasta dish.
I absolutely love Italian food 🇮🇹
My all-time favorite is a perfectly made carbonara from Rome: silky egg yolk sauce, crisp guanciale, Pecorino Romano, and plenty of black pepper, no cream at all.
I still remember a tiny trattoria near Trastevere where the carbonara tasted smoky, salty, and so comforting that I ordered a second plate without any shame 😄

Hi Jenny! I too love Italian food, but not Americanized or some other impersonation of it, rather real Italian dishes that you would find in Italy. For example, the photos shown here of lasagna are nothing like the regional variations of it in Italy. Tourists are often shocked when they order it in restaurants, and it's not even on everyday menu's in most restaurants. It's a specialty made very differently in Italy, and varies from region to region.
My favorite dishes include:
* Zuppa di Pesce - a spicy seafood soup, a version of which is often known as Cioppino outside of Italy
* Wild Boar Ragu - available in Northern Tuscany
* Gnocchi - in all its various incarnations
* Pasta e Ceci - a dish that combines chickpeas, garlic, olive oil, and herbs. You probably won't see this anywhere in the USA
* Osso Bucco - a slow simmered stew made traditionally with veal
* Pasta alla Norma -- a dish from Catania made with eggplant, tomato sauce, and ricotta cheese
* Arrosticini di Pecora - this is skewered sheep brochettes cooked quickly so they remain juicy. It's from Abruzzo and is often found at festivals or with street vendors
* Parmigiana di Melanzane - basically eggplant with tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese and basil
Note: There is no such dish in Italy as Chicken or Veal Parmigiana. It does not exist in real Italian restaurants.
@loveslongnails I didn’t even know that
You mean about the veal or chicken parmigiana? Ah, yes... it's a dish created by American restaurants. Truth be told, no Italian cook would smother veal in cheese... that's just an abomination. Veal pizzaioli is what you get in Italy, which is cutlets in a tomato sauce covered with a thin layer of mozzarella. However, some regions opt for wine, lemon and fresh tomato, or leave out the tomato altogether.
But the breaded cutlet with sauce and cheese served in Americanized Italian restaurants... no way, no where, no how.
No. And none. I've been to Italy. Literally the most overrated food ever! I genuinely don't get the hype. Some dishes are palitable and don't taste bad, but they're so cheap, measly and boring. Like a child could make them, and you're still hungry after eating them. But their pizzas though are fucking nasty! They're basically crackers with cheese and TONS of olive oil. Also, they get triggered over pineapple, but put FRENCH FRIES on Pizza! I wouldn't even rank Italian food in top 100, let alone top 1
I do but I'm not that into it. Pizza and lasagna are two things I like. There's probably a lot I've never been exposed to.
I truly enjoy Italian food.
