At a buffet how good are you at piling up your plate so nothing falls off?

I've been to buffets maybe 4 or 5 times in my life, and probably not in the last 20 years, but you didn't have to load up your plate - you could go back and get more, as much as you want. But I don't really eat any more than I normally do - which is arguably still too much but not nearly as much as you might imagine. I've known guys and even a few women who can easily eat double of what I eat.
Mostly, I just liked that you could get more home-cooked style food like roast or turkey, instead of fast food like a burger or pizza. I didn't go there because I was trying to eat 5 days of food for a discount. I'm far from rich but I'm not starving either.
I have never done that. While i will demonstrate Herculean efforts to avoid multiple trips between the car and the house on grocery day, i didn’t mind multiple trips to the buffet when i was a kid. As an adult, i don’t eat at buffets. They’re gross.
Only the lowest class of people participate in those foul superspreader rituals. You might just as well lie down and let everyone in the restaurant take turns spitting directly into your mouth.
I Just stack it real high then I come back for many more refill sets. When I was a teenager, I ate 12 plates of Italian food at the buffet heavy duty pasta. I broke the restaurant record, one time I ate a Thanksgiving dinner at the Marriott hotel. We stayed for 5 1/2 hours eating constantly. Twice I had the Don Shula 48 ounce steak 🥩 Challenge you have to eat it all before you leave and I won the award
I just go multiple times. I don't like having an overloaded plate where everything is mixing together. I know with British food where you have 50 shades of brown it might not matter, but if the food is any good I like you take my time to enjoy it and that includes going back to see what I should try next.
@purplepoppy I am convinced that you have the 'hottest' of hot bodys' and never go to a buffet and eat a weeks' worth of food.
That said, 'Miss hot body', I don't go to buffet's either.
I find that it's important not to overload on the salmonella, tempting as it always is, otherwise you find you don't have enough space for the E. coli and listeria.
Seeing people are buffets reminds me of 'pigs at a trough.'
Disgusting places.
I have two hands, two plates, both filled to the brim. I've never dropped anything.
I don’t want all my food touching 😭😂 I will get a new plate if I need to
I’ve only been to some in Las Vegas , but you just go back a second time and get a new plate…
I suck at it

I treat a buffet plate like a tiny architecture project 😄
Years of raiding hotel breakfast buffets taught me a few tricks. I start with “foundations” like rice, potatoes or pasta, then lean proteins against them, and only then add lighter things like salads and veggies on top or in gaps. Sauces always go last in small pools or drizzles.
Most of the time, nothing falls off, and the plate looks gloriously overstuffed but stable 😅
