Whether you want a cold meaty eggy snack, going on a picnic, having a beige buffet, or just want to stick something in your pocket for later then you can't go wrong with either gala pie or a scotch egg.

Gala pie is a long pie made of chopped pork held together with pork fat surrounded with pork jelly in a thick hot water pastry. As you can see in the photo it has a long egg that runs through the middle. These long cylinder eggs are laid by special chickens.

Scotch egg is simply a boiled egg, (either hard or soft) which is encased in sausage meat, rolled in breadcrumbs and cooked. As you can see in the shop window pic you can get different types.

So when it cones to satisfying your meaty eggy cravings where does your heart lie?

Yes it's a thing. A whole soft boiled scotch egg in a sandwich with cheese, bacon and a little bit of salad.
