Obviously that's a bunch of bull.. If people's opinion on your clothing doesn't matter, why don't you try wearing a bikini to a funeral, or a 2 piece in a school. People's opinion matter.

You have to consider that what you call slutty may not be another person's definition of slutty. I have been called slutty solely for wearing a skirt, even though it was longer than both of my arms. Slutty has just become too subjective to be taken seriously, in my opinion.

People don't wear bikinis to funerals by the way because it's a funeral and people dress for funerals and not everybody wants to a wear a swimsuit anywhere other than the pool. Again, I do think there are situations where women do dress for other people, but I know in my experience that the only person I try to please is myself.

Let me put it to you this way: why would I want to dress up for "men"? Most guys who approach you off the street, like I mentioned, I wouldn't touch with a ten foot poll. Sad, but true. I don't dress for the guy who thinks I put my clothes on for him, I don't dress for the guy who calls me a slut, I don't dress for the guy who thinks it's okay to harass me because I didn't wear a turtle neck that day. I dress up for "the man in my head" - which I described enough in this take for you to reference that if you don't know what I mean.

Hate to say it but it's pretty presumptuous for a guy to think he's special enough for me to want to impress.

I believe when someone goes out of their way to do something, it is done for a reason. And "I do it because I want to" is never a reason. For a girl asking her dad some money and if she throws in a line, "Give me money because I want it." is not a legitimate reason why her dad should give her the money. A proper reason would be "Give me money because I want to watch movie with friends."

Now as money is an aesthetic thing, the REASON will always be externally related. For eg - If someone says he is practicing writing to improve his handwritting. Why is he doing it? "He is doing it for himself" True, but that is not a reason. That is just a part of the actual truth. The real reason might be, he wants to get better grades/ impress the teacher etc.

Now , combining this, When a girl goes out of her way to choose which clothing she wants to wear, "She does it for herself" is not the reason, the reason has to be externally related (as stated above). Just because we don't want to believe it

Doesn't mean it cannot be. Similarly, I buy good clothes for myself, because I want to look good. I want to get positive attention. And if someone says " That shirt looks like shit" It will have some impact on me, and as it has an impact on me, that means, his opinion matters to me.

If this seems like a lot and too complex to take it in, forgive me, I didn't know how to phrase it better.

That's a little bit presumpteous to assume that a woman would have a desire to present herself for the sake of men alone.

Here's an example. There's a fashion trend now - cute fuzzy swears that resemble animals. Also, the "kid like" overalls thing is another trend. If a woman wears that, is she trying to attract men with paedophilic fetishes? No, she's wearing it because she thinks it's cute. I don't wake up and think to myself every day: will a man like this shirt? I ask myself: do I like this shirt? It makes ZERO sense to suggest that I would wear anything that I did not like and did not pick because I - as in me and myself - thought it was nice.

Seriously, how hard is that to understand? Why would I dress up for you, honestly?
