Why are women so afraid of bugs/insects?

Guys are afraid of them but they're not allowed to show it. However it is socially acceptable for girls to fear bugs. Guys may also have more exposure to bugs and stuff. Girls prefer indoor activity while boys prefer outdoor activities. Well at least thats how it was when I was growing up. Not so much anymore because my little cousin doesn't play outside. He plays video games and he is afraid of bugs.

I have never been afraid of insects and even had a pet praying mantis as a kid.

Well just in case you weren't aware bugs bite sometimes it's just spots, your skin can start to itch, oh and many spread poison.

Also many of them look strange to us my biggest fears are spiders some are big as well as small and they're hairy, have many eyes, and 8 legs, and contains poison.

As for other insects I dislike/fear on the top of my head Beatles, Roaches, scorpions, and many other insects I don't know the names of.

Cockroaches are fucking disgusting. They are an indicator of filth and decay and unlike a bear which you can obviously avoid you never know when a roach might scurry up your leg into your pants or across your path under the refrigerator to avoid light. Anyone with sense knows this.

Yeah roaches are NASTY. Ants don't bug me so much, they're small and if you smash them they don't leave nearly as much gooey guts all over the place. Ants aren't nearly as fast as roaches either, and all they want to do is go after sugar like a cookie left out on the counter...I can relate.

It's a irrational fear with an origin that's hard to define. Someone can't really verbalize why they're scared, they just are. Some scholars suggest that our fear of insects stemmed from a prehistoric fear of actually deadly insect/bugs. Just didn't go away for some. Others suggest it could be due to social learning, your parents are afraid of them/some one overreacts to the presence of them and as a child you begin to believe it's something to be afraid of. Could also just be due to experience. You had a bad run in with a bee when you were young, now you're deathly afraid of bees and other insects.

I think it's more of a programming question.. Men have been "out there in the field" for millions of years, whilst women have almost always fell into a more protected sitiations. By that I mean that males developed a (irrational, if you want it) hability to just ignore the fear of bugs, the same way that a person who lives next to pounds would live to ignore animals like frogs.

This makes sense to me, not sure if it's true but definetely explains a lot.

That being said, there are plenty of girls that don't mind bugs, as well as there are many guys that can cry if a cockroach touches them.

I personally don't mind any type of animal, except for spiders. Hate spiders.

I think i only got bit once in my life time. While i was standing next to some cars on the parking lot, something sting my neck from behind and i slap it quick and its like some kinda big wasp. That hurts tho..mang...once in a life time experience alrdy scared meh enough to approach odd looken bugs x)

Wasps are nature's jerks. They don't really do anything besides eating a couple parasites, they don't even polinate flowers. They just go around being aggressive and mating with even more aggressive wasps and stinging people.

Because they're nasty as fuck. The other day there was a huge butterfly next to my door outside of my apt. I was terrified! It was just there hanging on to the outside wall and it was there for 2 whole days. I thought it was going to eat me. Then on the second day this 7 year old decided to grab it and take it home. I'm not afraid of most of them, I just prefer to avoid touching many of them if I can help it. I don't like being surprised by them at close range, lol. Some I will catch and have no problem handling though.

i used to have a tarantula and a snake , had to do them away because my siblings would take them out and play with them, not really smart if they are pretty fast, so I am quite okay with insects I used to "operate" them when ai was little
