Why do women always assume men are hitting on them?

So I was at the store. I didn't know where the bathroom was so I asked one of the women who worked there where it was. Before I could even ask her anything she says "I'm married." With a look of disbelief in my eyes I told her "I just wanted to know where the bathroom was." She looked dumbfounded. No offense, but some of you women need to get overselves. Why do some women do this?

Because a large amount of females are quite stupid, as well as seem to have been put on a pedestal by men. If I could get a dollar for the number of times my friends have humble-bragged to me about the guy at the bar who was hitting on her (because, you know, holding the door open for someone= guy is macking on you) I would be quite rich by now. x_x
