Do girls flirt with guys they find unattractive? either out of pity or for an ego stroke?

At the office there is this girl who talks and flirts with me, which has resulted in the guys I work with trying to get us together. Since this has happened she has begun speaking to me more. She has called me her ‘favourite' and as I left the office she yelled out my and bye with a cheeky smile (would a girl draw attention to the fact that she likes someone in front of the whole office).

What I need help with is that i’m a shy guy and rarely get attention from girls because of it. She has a bf, so is she talking and flirting with me as an ego stroke because she knows that I like her, or out of pity, do girls joke, flirt and talk to guys they find unattractive?

This is an interesting situation... In general. . Girls do flirt with unattractive guys... But usually if the guy is only slightly less attractive than the girl... She's testing if she can gather your attention with less risk of rejection. Which could damage her self confidence... Her animalistic nature is vetting you out as a potential mate... Women can't help it... But that's typically a one time thing... If she is continually doing it then she's interested... Are you sure she has a boyfriend? And if so... The relationship must not be going to we'll if she is singling out a male and flirting... If she doesn't really flirt with anyone but you... You've peaked her interest... I would say man up... Be confident... Don't stutter or look down... Look her directly in the eye with a sort of energetic hunger and ask her out... Be flirtatious and incorporate that her boyfriend doesn't deserve her and give her a really good reason why you would be a better choice... If anything... You gain experience asking a girl out and practicing a confident persona...

its probably for an ego stroke if she has a boyfriend already maybe he doesn't give her enough attention and so she feels like she needs to seek it out from other men
